If this was MoN frantically scraping around looking for players, key ones at that, there would be hell on.

The whole idea of this new regime was to put and end to this sort of nonsense.
I dont think anyone can deny they have failed to address key areas in this window, theyve tried but ultimately failed like those previous. The fact we still have no real left back or central midfield and may lose one of our star players in the forward line shows the window started strongly but we faded as it went on.

Don't think we have the finance to do what we want if I'm honest. Not much has been spent net and we've had to use what little we have spent on turning over the squad.

There is only so much you can do when you have a certain budget and x amount of problems. This year is a transition year before we go again next summer, I've said it since may

Never seen much of him so don't know who good he is but if Fergie thought he was good enough for Man U(yes he does get it wrong at times) he must be good enough for us.

Would be happy enough with Buttner, obviously a permanent deal would be preferable but we haven't had any success in getting those targets in. Buttner can do a job for a season and i'm sure we'll be continuing to look for someone to fill that role more permanently.

i don't like loans either, but we've lost out on a few lb's.

The problem being that this window, everywhere was a key area that desperately needed addressing. Realistically the club have achieved more than was likely already. We also know that central midfield (where we've already brought in Ba and Cabral) was higher up the list that it looks like it was now, we've just had problems in doing deals in that particular area. It could just as easily have been centre half or up front we'd be worrying about. Loan a central midfielder, loan a left back to keep Colback on his toes and we've done well considering our starting point imho. We can't just label a window as a failure because we've only got 11 of the 14 (for example) we needed, and I'd rather we loaned stop gaps than signed them permanently.

I reckon the loans are a last resort. We've tried to sign the targets and for one reason or another, have failed. The loans should be a stop gap and we can try again next summer

Correct.

1 Baines
2 Evra
3 Buttner-SAFC

or

1 Concecaio (sp)
2 Ekotto
3 Rose-SAFC

This could happen even if Baines doesn't go to Utd, they have Fabio as another LB. Would be a good signing, played well in every game I've seen him in - our match in March included.

Everything we need at left back and he will only improve his positioning with game time. Hopefully welbeck can do us a favour and praise us.

Evans anarl. Both returned to wearing kits on matchdays whereas previously theyd been wearing suits n ties.

It's a World Cup year,so this lad will be keen, it's also better than panic buying. Scouts will have plenty of time to look at other options. Busy Monday I think, with probably another cm and striker coming in,with one or two going out ;)

He forgets that O'Neil was flapping around last minute trying to sign Fletcher and Johnson and Rose on loan, having only signed Cuellar and Saha on frees at this point.l
Beat me to it.

PDC as others have said we've brought in 11 players and although we need a left back and central midfielder we have tried all summer, I'll guarantee as soon as the Spurs game finished we asked about Rose and were told no that's how long we've been chasing a left back.

I think the big areas were fb and cm we've struggled to address those areas dropping down to plan z by now.

We were so short of players towards the end of O'Neils time that he couldn't even play a full bench of subs. Much of this close seasons work has been to build up the squad as well as add general quality and specific specialists. The left back position is the only one we have failed in - admittedly the midfield area could have been strengthened but as they say Rome wasn't built in a day.

f***ing loans all over. Absolutely hindrance in the clubs development. Pointless.
i hate loans, but .... what else can we do? we're f***ing desperate now imo, there's only 2 days left. and if we sell sess, and we have no replacement lined up that is decent, the club want shooting with shite
