Ok, I would have signed a central midfielder first and foremost, then a left back which is less of a push as we have Colback.

What on earth do you want me to say? Am I meant to have a list of transfer targets and the agents phone numbers in my phone?

How do you know for a fact that we've not been trying to do this all summer? The recruitment of Cabral and Ba suggests that we knew it was a problem area, as does PDCs comments about replacing alf when he was let go. We had a deal in place for Orban until he asked for more money and flew that French lad in on Ellis' private jet only for him to decide to stay at home. you've been trying to make out we've been sat on our hands all this time. Those are just the deals we know about.

The club are not to blame every single time a deal falls through, and are still trying to get something sorted. It baffles me how this is a cause for getting at them.

New manager comes in, he wants to put his own mark / ideas /team on the field. Unless your of really good quality ,ie Johnson, fletch, sess ( I know he's off ) etc etc, then the ones deemed mediocre are peddled. Paolo has obviously put n'diaye in that category.

I agree, he wasn't the type of midfielder that Paolo wanted. His wages probably excluded him from sitting on the bench and I doubt Alfie would have been happy on the bench either. We'd of got some sort of loan fee and freed up wages to put towards a midfielder that suited how Paolo wanted us to play but for whatever reason haven't been able to sign one. I still trust the decision to let him go, just a shame we haven't got someone else in yet.

i hope we get him on loan , i feel proud to know manure like to use us to develop there young players and if there any good take them back , then if they are not good enough we get a chance to buy them , it makes me feel all warm inside

Do you think ki will be an upgrade? I've seen him play a couple of times, but never even heard of alf before he joined.
Ki looks tidy on the ball, and I think there'll be another in by Monday too, if reports in Italy are true.

Yes we need someone, but when Celustka, Ki and Buttner (should they sign) bugger off back to their clubs, it leaves us where we are now - no full backs and short in midfield. We need to stop trying to plug holes with short term solutions or else we will never progress.

Thats certainly a possibility, maybe even a probability but no one can say that it's a certainty. It was always going to be a stretch to get permanent solutions to every problem position in this window. There were just too many of them & too little time & too many high earning passengers choking up the wage bill.

A lot can change between now & the end of January & even more by next summer. We may not see all the loanees replaced with permanent signings by then but for the 1st time in decades I think the whole club will be making a concerted effort to find replacements.

You seem to be more concerned about me being concerned.

Nor am I getting at them, Jesus H Christ.

I do. His passing is much better than Alfie's and that's the type of midfielder that Paolo wants for his system. I understand the frustration about not making permanent signings and having to get loans in but at least we are targeting players who have a clearly defined skill set for a clearly defined role in the team. It makes a refreshing change to the last window of Bruce's scatter gun approach and MoN deciding Danny graham was the answer to our problems.

Exactly. I've said before, that this season will be the most important for years. Relegation would be disaster. We need to give the new set up time to bare fruit. We've got a highly rated scout from inter Milan ffs. That alone gives me cause for optimism, yet people whinge about us being linked, with a highly rated young un from the premier league champions

You can only buy when you identify players who are available from clubs who are happy with outright purchase. Ignore that opportunity and we are left with Bardsley and Gardner playing RB and no cover for Colback who is yet to sign another contract. Celustka should have a purchase fee agreed as iirc players signing loans across EUEFA boundries are considered transfers. We have been and currently are clearly active trying to buy players, someotimes a loan may be the only way to get someone in. In any event footballers are principally intinerant workers these days and getting a decent year out of them before they move elsewhere is becoming much more common however unpalatable it may be ...

Can't argue with that

i've just read your post. i stopped keeping up with all the linked players and signings till they arrived.
i assumed we'd signed celutska outright. please don't say he's a lone player.

Lets face it we have some recent history of bringing on Man U youngsters when they have signed on loan, so deal would certainly make sense.

Essentially we have signed him permanently if we want to - you have to agree a fee for continental loans and if he's worth it, we buy him.

it
f***ing loans all over. Absolutely hindrance in the clubs development. Pointless.
It is not pointless though. It allows us to plug thw gaps qith better players than we would otherwise sign. I prefer to watch Evans and Rose ove Titus or bardsley any day. And welbeck was much better than stokes or murphy.

ah, that's ok. i started to assume we were heading towards another major f**k up.
he's looked ok up to now. i don't want to jinx the lad but i think he's performed as well as any of the new signings.

If that shot had gone in against Fulham , his price would've trebled :D
