Alex Neil

I don't actually think he's very good. He's probably decent but we give him a lot of praise for getting us out of league one. I reckon that's more down to the fact the previous managers were f***ing shit. I mean, look at the squad he had man. By the end we had Patterson, Roberts, Clarke, Stewart, Neil, batth, Evans, onien, pritchard. All of these have proven themselves perfectly capable of playing at the upper end of the championship. Wright as well, easily a top L1 player. I think what time has shown is that we had the kind of side that should have walked league one. The fact they didn't is more a negative reflection on previous managers, rather than a sign that the one who finally did it was anything more than decent
you are dead right mate. His predessesors were fkn shite. Idiots every one . All the way back to Reid .

Got them from relegation candidates out of trouble with a shite team. If they have cash to spend they’ll be playoff contenders next season imo.

I think they’re really similar. I think Mowbray plays better “looking” stuff (probably through it being all we can do, so it’s drilled in) but I really admired Neil’s ability to pick and choose a team to beat the opposition on the day.

Tbh I’d back Neil to beat Mowbray in a hypothetical play off final due to that

That said, Mowbray’s bringing on the young players very well. I remember being frustrated under Neil that he didn’t give subs time. He’s more pragmatic

TBF Neil schooled Mowbray the other week

Thought he done excellent for us, I feared being in league 1 for another 10 years but felt totally at ease once this bloke arrived. I'm usually a bag of nerves going to Wembley but he had something about him that had me confident we would get the job done. Gutted he left..think he will eventually do well at Stoke. We have moved on and done excellent without him though.

That’s a great analysis tbf

He clearly cant be viewed in the game as anything other than a mid table championship manager saying as noone above mid table in the championship has wanted him.

He did a great job for us in LEAGUE 1 but clearly isnt anything special or he would be on the Premier League manager merry go round rather than the championship and having to dip into league 1 to get a job.

I stopped caring about the baaldy kernt the say he left, or the day he watching Stoke whilst still being in charge of us.

Fuck him. He blew his best ever chance
