Neil has obviously been poached as as far back as 3 weeks ago and before they ejected O’Neil and finalised in principle at our away game last weekend..he only asked for permission to talk to Stoke Friday morning and yet deal done and dusted by 2 pm… surely not allowed by either the new club nor the player Efl fines or points deduction Needed! :)
Probably but good luck making that stick

Think most managerial changes involve some pre-planning and pre-tapping up - except when we decided to sack Johnson and go on a long hunt for his replacement while dropping points that nearly cost us a play off place

Club was being badly run then too

Said this on another thread but the more this goes on the more it seems like Neil has just fucked the club over.
When you think about it it's very clear he used us as a stepping stone.
He never ever bought into the history of the club or the passion of the area. It was all about him, him, him.
If you watch his press conferences and interviews he was bored and disinterested and it was always " I did this and I did that". He thought he was better than us and don't know how he fostered a team spirit because he came across as a selfish, self obsessed individual.
Alex Neil is all about Alex Neil.
A world class ego on the shoulders of a journeyman championship manager. He was never tested here under pressure. His tedious, tetchy press interviews would have become a chore if we hit a 5 match losing streak.

The minute someone else comes along with a few quid he’ll fuck Stoke off as well. Fuck him.

It's easy to say he wasn't backed, but you can't magic good players out of thin air who want to come here.

I said when Alex Neil was appointed, he was the right choice. I said, if anyone whom we can attract can get us up he can. 'No nonsense Scotsman, 'knows the game inside out. I also said that in the event he doesn't get the opportunity to have the say on which players come in and build his team, then he will be gone by Christmas.

But, it wasn't all a one way street. We gave him an opportunity when he was struggling for work and he's never been at a club as a big as SAFC and so he should have been grateful for that.

In the event it was to do with family, then I can understand that and pretty much everyone else would do exactly the same.

In the event it was about money, then he's a monumental bell end.

In the event he felt he wasn't backed, then it didn't matter that much when nobody else gave him the opportunity a couple of years back.

Family: I understand, we'd all do the same. Anything else, tit.
Family I get, turning up at Blackburn today when he should be managing the team he is still employed to manage, absolute c#nuts trick and says everything you need to know about the charlatan!

Tell us what you think about your ex-girlfriends 🤣🤣🤣

So he hasn’t just signed a new contract 4 weeks ago?

Haway man, there are all kinds that you can hold against Speakman, KLD, the club …. But why would he say Neil signed a new contract recently, if he hadn’t?

It's aboslutely normal for managers and players to increase their pay on promotion. So normal clubs don't even bother to tell anyone.

As if we are pretending this isn't a thing.

IF

IF it exists it's derisory so what's the point arguing.

Sensitive tonight mate! Toward a throwaway comment.

No mate, nothing at all about being sensitive.

You said he lied on tv about the contract. It’s a straight forward comment. We just gave Neil a new contract that he happily signed.

I'd agree. This fills in a few blanks as to exactly what Alex Neil is about, and tells us if it wasn't Stoke now it would have been someone else not too far down the line.

So, in the end, 'best off without him and with someone who sees a future here.

Definitely. He knew all about the deal and was as good as signed before he fled. Wouldn't surprise me to hear we had our suspicions about what was going on, seems odd to discover Mowbray has been hovering in the background for a while now.
