Alex Neil and Stoke have acted disgracefully

Agree. But even if we don’t do either, who cares. It’s about Sunderland AFC, not Stoke and Alex Neil. What constitutes success this season is not defined by how Stoke and Neil do

Precisely mate. It's shite but we're still very very early in the season. We'll never know how an Alex Neil Sunderland team would have done in the Championship. We need to move on.

Quite a lot of bad feeling mind. I reckon it could be like Figo returning to the Nou Camp when he comes back.

Someone will probably bring a piglets head into the SOL.

Bit of a different perspective this , but lot’s of people have criticised alex neil etc but have Sunderland as a club behaved well when we have had tony mowbray sitting in the stands since first game of the season???

I believe he goes to matches at all local clubs. He lives in Yarm and loves football.

Hahahaha. It’s a long way off, hopefully it won’t be as raw by then.

He went to the Coventry game a month ago. Nick Barnes said if you asked Boro fans he’s more than likely been to theirs too. It’s a way of keeping your hand in so to speak

Getting promoted from League One is what’s expected. Anything less is a failure. Not like we were 22nd in L1, we were 4th when he took over
We were fucked man, just lost 6-0 and we’d played more games than teams below us and end we were 8th when they caught up.One striker(no back up)players dead on their feet etc.It was our 4th season there so by your reasoning was expected a lot earlier, well before Neil rocked up.He sorted it cos he managed the situation brilliantly. After Grayson,Coleman ,Ross,Parkinson and Johnson he was tremendous. You obviously have an agenda.

Neil should not have gone to their match while he was still SAFC manager. It was terrible behaviour.

But ultimately, I do not blame him one bit for leaving and how many of us can say we'd act differently if (like Neil) we were dealing with two clubs who there was no underlying affinity towards?

We were paying him a pittance for the division, which they trebled, and also trebled the length of time on his contract. Yes, he just signed a new deal with us, but our board and sporting director should be smart enough to understand if they're underpaying a key employee who has been vital to our success, they will lose him if there is a reasonable alternative. Do we expect him to hang around when the board are hedging their bets on him with rolling contracts? No, and if the next person comes in on that type of 'prove it' deal, I suspect we'll lose them as soon as they have any success too.

I sadly think we're more likely headed towards a Watford model than long term stability.

It’s like a crap breakup, but if the new manager has us in the top half of the table by the New Year or at least nowhere near the relegation zone, we’ll all be over Neil.

Onwards we go.

Losing BSA hurt a hell of a lot more than this.

P.S. - choosing Stoke over us ffs 😂😂😂

I have no agenda. I agree he was better than Grayson, Coleman, Ross, Parkinson and Johnson. But they were also the worst managers in our entire history. Sorry, getting Sunderland out of League One isn’t a miracle, as evidenced by those who failed getting sacked. It’s like getting a big six club in the top four, it’s not a miracle, it’s the remit of the job.

They knew he was under contract to another club.
So did Sunderland when they took Cotterill and going back further Alan Durban, both from Stoke. It happens in football. Seems like it’s ok when Sunderland do it but highly unacceptable and underhand when anyone else does.

Can’t see why anyone would be annoyed at Stoke tbh

I’m willing to bet they’ll be an upturn in form, some bragging. Then when Jan comes around they’ll sign Neil’s previous players he’s familiar with, maybe do slightly better, finish 9th. Repeat in the summer, finish 10th, repeat, mid table, etc etc

Fuck him. Let's not forget those last minute goals that bailed him out. We we were largely terrible against Gillingham, Shrewsbury and Oxford but somehow managed to get 9 points. Also the Burton game where we were Parkinson levels of shite but somehow managed to get a point in the last kick of the game. I think he could struggle at Stoke where the pressure will be greater as they will be expecting promotion.

Just because we always look for an out of work manager to fill our vacancy doesn't make it wrong . Most clubs do it . They identified who they wanted and made it happen very quickly by offering him what he was worth etc . Let's see what contract our next manager gets if its a rolling contract it will get many people asking questions was it Neil who insisted on it or is it something the club pushed to save them compo if things don't work out . Be interesting to see what happens

Stoke have done nothing wrong, they've been smart really, taken a very good manager who was seemingly looking for a heavier wallet.

Fuck the snake Alex Neil though.

Just been at a barbecue with a big Preston fan. Didn’t know he’d left. Maybe people know this already but I didn’t. When he was at Preston there were two or three occasions according to him that Coates tried to get Neil to join Stoke. So yes Stoke’s leadership are disrespectful wankers and so is Neil. I really hope they both fail. What he also said is that at the start the football was high pressure high energy and in the end it became bland and negative. I hope he achieves the second outcome at his new club.
So Preston managed to keep him despite Stoke wanting him but we couldn't?
It just gets worse.
