Alex Neil and Stoke have acted disgracefully

It’s business. They’re paying Neil what’s he’s worth after being undervalued here despite performing a miracle.
A miracle, had away and shite. The team was always capable of promotion they were just inconsistent and underperforming. The most memorable good performances last season (if you take the playoffs out the equation) we’re under Lee Johnson’s stewardship. Not a single player in that team wears signed by Alex Neil!

He took Norwich to the premier league- he done wonders here. All managers reach a point where they become stale for whatever reason.Usually when owners fail to try and kick on IMO.
He didn’t do wonders here. He did the bare minimum. Fair play well done. How did it end at Norwich? Mid table. Preston? Mid table. That’s his level. I’d have taken his level. But I’m not going to pretend this guy leaving is some sliding doors moment, there’s no evidence for that. No one touched him for a year

Bit of a different perspective this , but lot’s of people have criticised alex neil etc but have Sunderland as a club behaved well when we have had tony mowbray sitting in the stands since first game of the season???

Did you not watch the Bolton game? Or the Doncaster/ Cheltenham games?
Was at all of them mate. I was also at all the 5-0s. The squad had massive potential, we were third when LJ was sacked. The same squad (minus Broadhead and plus Simms) is competing in the championship. It was no miracle to get promoted, that was a good team and yes Neil was better than LJ away from home. But sorry, a miracle would be winning the champ this year, not winning the play offs in L1

Is he not allowed to go and watch games like the rest of us??

Just been at a barbecue with a big Preston fan. Didn’t know he’d left. Maybe people know this already but I didn’t. When he was at Preston there were two or three occasions according to him that Coates tried to get Neil to join Stoke. So yes Stoke’s leadership are disrespectful wankers and so is Neil. I really hope they both fail. What he also said is that at the start the football was high pressure high energy and in the end it became bland and negative. I hope he achieves the second outcome at his new club.

He did do wonders here.Who else would have got us up from where we were?We went on a hell of a run and just scraped into the play offs despite all the problems within the squad.I havent a clue how far he’d have took us but what he did last season was far from mediocre.

He’s obviously been lined up as our potential manager for ages. Why would he go to our games and not boro

He went to the Coventry game a month ago. Nick Barnes said if you asked Boro fans he’s more than likely been to theirs too. It’s a way of keeping your hand in so to speak

Getting promoted from League One is what’s expected. Anything less is a failure. Not like we were 22nd in L1, we were 4th when he took over

He did the bare minimum? ffs  Revisionism in to how well he did is even quicker than I expected on here.

Thing is with what you're saying, even you know it's not true. Aye he's gone and went on like an arse but trying to downplay how well he did is just daft.

Getting promoted from League One was his remit. Aka, the bare minimum he was employed for. I don’t see how that’s hard to understand. Let me repeat, LEAGUE ONE. Hardly revisionism. Did his job and fucked off.

The way in which both these parties have behaved is a disgrace and if there is any justice in this world they will both fail miserably.
No they haven't. They gave Neil a longer, more lucrative contract and means he can live at home and commute.
Neil wanted and deserved a longer contract. You can't blame him for leaving.

If you'd said when we got rid of lee Johnson that the next bloke would get us out of league 1 and leave all within 7 months I'd have 100% taken that
I totally get that marra but I can't but help he totally used us. Fair play he took us up, but the way in which he has dropped us in it is nothing short of disgusting.

He came directly after a 6-0 defeat and from that base lost one game in his next 21 getting a team that had been stuck in a league for 4 years promoted. It’s remarkable really. However recent events have been a bit if a shock to everyone’s system and the way of coping for many is ‘well he wasn’t all that’ and that’s fine. Whatever is best for you.

He was employed to get us out of L1. And he did that job, fair play. I didn’t want him to leave. But what annoys me is this comparison to Allardyce as some sliding doors moment in the club’s history. He’s ultimately a mid table Champ manager, and he won’t ever be any more imo. I don’t see him an anything to particularly mourn losing and that can’t be replaced. Unlike Allardyce who was a quality operator. Not saying this is your line either, but I’ve seen it too many times and that’s my issue. I also think context of being in L1 with what is a Champ squad is key. Likes like “best manager in recent years” also doesn’t mean a lot tbh
