You think Adam Lyth would be rather playing for Yorkshire than in the England squad? Course he f***ing wouldn't

there a load of other openers who would equally deserve their call up the squad, he will be delighted to have been chosen.

Closed shop? :lol:

So that is Balance, Stokes, Buttler, Ali, Jordan who have all made their debuts in the last 18 months

Closed shop, aye spot on!

You don't agree with Trotts selection, we get it, but this is one player with a fantastic test record, who earned his call back up to the squad, it hasn't worked, get over it, but there is one of the most open squads for years

We had Sam Robson opening last summer, did he think it was a closed shop?

Sort it out man.

Ian Botham has a fantastic test record, let's pick him to open the batting.

Robson scored a test ton and was dropped so Trott could make a hash of pretending to be an opener. Yes, he may well feel aggrieved.

All of those changes quoted were forced on England.

Trott -> breakdown -> Ballance
Prior -> injury -> Buttler
Swann -> retirement -> Ali
Bresnan -> injury -> Jordan/Stokes

Hales has made a cracking start to the season and his strike rate would add balance our top order. Cook, Ballance and Bell can all get bogged down at times.

Moores has already said Trott will play in Barbados. Feel sorry for Lyth, he hasn't had even a sniff of a chance to grab the opener's spot. England have took the piss out of the lad :neutral:
They're taking the piss out of Yorkshire too calling up Bresnan for that ODI against Ireland :lol: It's so close to the last test in the Windies that Yorkshire will be without Lyth, Plunkett, Rashid, Bresnan, Bairstow, Root and Ballance (assuming they have a game).

Its not a closed shop mate, you know its not, be serious, we have a hell of a lot of young players in the team, and will have even more over the next year or so.

There is no agenda by England in recalling Trott, they wanted to give him another chance, he deserved that, to solidify the top of the order, as there is nothing less Australia wanted to face than a firing Cook and Trott, if it hasn't worked out its not a big deal, someone will get their chance and they will have to take it.

Robson wasn't good enough, Lyth might not be either, but he also might be the real deal.

I just wish people would stop going way over the top like their is some big conspiracy theory, Lyth has not been treated unfairly, it could easily of been Borthwick, Lees or co getting called up, he got the nod and is ahead of them, and should be delighted. I have no doubt he is.

IMO Trott should have never been asked to open. He should have been on tour as cover for injuries and Ballance who's form during the winter ODI's was frankly awful. Ballance has taken Trott's spot in the team and deserves to keep it.

Trott failed twice during the first test. Got the nod again then failed once in the 2nd test on any easy pitch. 2 ducks, averaging 16 but given the nod for the 3rd test too. It's seems to me that Moores had made his mind up and nothing would sway him for giving Trott 6 innings. Load of shit if you ask me.

totally agreed.

trott should be touring with the side, proving he can travel, be available if need be without feeling any effects of his stress related illness. hales, lyth or lees should be opening, possibly take a few of them and give a few of them a try and see where we are at the end. we need an opener for the ashes, by playing trott we are just wasting time and match experience for one or more of them.

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy.

I am saying we have a coach who is either reluctant or incapable of making the big decisions needed to take the team forward.

He is obsessed with statistics and as such will always resort to picking known quantities, even if they are no longer useful.

Has he ever dropped or rested a senior player?

Bang on.

Bang on.

He famously dropped harmison and hoggard for broad and anderson in NZ

I get where you are coming from but he had blooded a lot of young players. It's one of the few things he is good at, young players like working with him.

Also do many major nations drop big stars? The whole history is littered with examples, pointing was in the side to replace david boon etc

Definite argument for a young opener everyone agrees, but he brought in Robson for Carberry, and we have ballance etc

I may not agree with it but I get the logic of trott opening, he probably won't last much longer but I honestly don't see the big deal

Carberry wasn't great, replaced by robson, he replaced by trott who may be replaced by lyth

Just think it's unfair to say moores doesn't want young players in the team

Not a coincidence is it?

People playing schoolyard politics with the national team.
