Alcohol

Bet that wine was like nectar. :lol:

Out at 4 today. Mexico70 for tacos and Margaritas then Peacock/Dun Cow before fire station comedy gig. Anyone know if you can take drink to your seat?
It was fine. I like sweet wine so any Lieb or similar does the job. I’m not going to spend £10 to drink it out of a ribena bottle on the way to the pub.

Out again at 2 for a tour of the riviera.

I find it weird how the government have made heavy smoking financially prohibitive for the majority (&600 a month minimum assuming 2 packs per day per household, vunless you buy snides) but people are able to drink themselves into an early grave for similar money. Now that smoking is banned indoors it doesn’t cause any knock on issues such as violence and ASB like booze does. I love a drink more than most but I can see a greater good in cans of beer being 3-4 quid each so booze is limited to being a treat as opposed to a lifestyle choice. Obviously it will never happen as the government doing it would get the boot and its better for the countries coffers for people to drink loads and die young.
New Zealand have made it illegal for 15yr olds to smoke and it will be illegal for them to start smoking at any point in their lives so it will be a country of non smokers eventually as you won’t be allowed to buy them at any age.
3.8% beer contains 27% more alcohol than 3% beer per unit volume.

4.1% => 37% more alcohol than 3%

4.5% => 50% more.

Those are huge increases from the olden days, even if they aren't as huge as they were a few years ago.
And that’s why cider was deemed to be brain damage stuff and people got daft on it. When you’re used to 3.8% exhibition and you fall into as many pints of 5.5% strongbow. Drinking the same amount in volume makes you fall over

The most googled word in NZ when this legislation was going through parliament was “smuggling”. I think they’ve possibly gone a step too far and going to create an attractive black market. But time will tell

My wife smoked for 35 years, even though she knew it cost more than our mortgage payment.
No amount complaining from me stopped her. What did, granddaughter wouldn’t kiss her because her breath smells

45% more alcohol. 6 pints at 5.5% has the same amount of alcohol as 8.6 pints at 3.8%.

Like yourself this gig is one of my favourite artists so it stands to be one of the best gigs of the year for me. I'll enjoy it to the fullest. If I fancy having a few beers or a few more, I'll do it. The fact it's on a Monday means sod all to me. Will I be a bit more tired at work on Tuesday? Aye. I'm not going to remember with great fondness that Tuesday at work, so who cares.

See you there Herbs :cool:

Some on here act their age, which is the most life limiting, boring and sad thing that can happen to someone.

Do what makes you happy no matter what your age. The sad sacks who whinge on about it are only jealous that their lass won't let them out and they're still spending all their once disposable income on the finance deal for the sliding wardrobes they got two years ago.

Nowt sadder than seeing a ‘lad’ from school n they have the crack n demeaner of a pensioner.
Id sooner have a sesh with herbal any day of the week!

Withered away into shadows of themselves by overbearing wives and the social pressure to "act their age".

Nothing says "I have a healthy relationship with alcohol" better than being unable to comprehend why somebody else might voluntary reduce their intake / stop altogether.

Missed my point. You don't have to drink to be happy. You do have to be pressured into being sober if you live a sad controlled later life.

I cried off my works winter party last night. Food and a free bar on offer but a couldn’t be chewed with it all if I’m honest.
No hang over this morning, no bollox conversation about “ how pissed was so and so” and all the shite that goes with “ I was just tired all day on Sunday “
Other than having a moan on here now, it’s been a positive not going, not drinking and I don’t feel as though I’ve missed out from not going last night and not drinking for the last few weeks .

Getting tired of the booze now, it’s only taken 44 years but it doesn’t do it for me any more. Saps my energy for days and puts me on a downer, I don’t have time for that anymore.

Keep getting dodgy blood test results too which I’m a bit concerned about, potential liver and kidney function issues, doc doesn’t seem too concerned but can’t help worry about it and feel binge drinking for decades is gonna inevitably catch up with you at some point. So taking a bit of a break.
