Albania for a holiday.

I've been to Tirana the year before COVID (2018?).

It was great, probably the only place in Europe without a tourism industry really (a bit "off grid" I guess, compared with most countries).

The people were friendly and the place was cheap. The bunkers are quite cool, and I enjoyed there nightlife - there's loads of cool bars.

I'm vegetarian and found the food absolutely shite though (The HappyCow helped massively as per though) , might be different for others.

I hear it’s beautiful but the tourist areas no longer cheap. I think the Italians have bought up the prime properties and there aren’t any bargains.
I’m off there soon to meet Jiorge, the self proclaimed Fish King. Who lives in the self named Fish City. I’m told he is an interesting character. Look after his staff very well and they are queuing up to work for him.

Was in Kosovo last month and the amount of Albanian flags I saw and the hospitality of the people I'd recommend it. Guessing Albania is more touristy though, but it'll still be cheap and amazing.

Highly recommend Kosovo for anyone into mountaineering though.

Kosovo is fantastic, great people as well. Really fancy Albania as I like that part of Europe.

Absolutely class, recommend it a lot.

Start in the north, shkoder, hike one day Valbona to theth, especially if you can do it in November the autumn colours are amazing. Canny ferry ride up the river to Valbona too.

Tirana, interesting place for the communism history and everything cheap and easy to do.

Berat and Gjirokaster very beautiful ottoman places with plenty to see in the towns or just out side.

Would head past Sarande and get down to Ksamil and Butrint but depends on the weather.

Any tips you need let me know.
Thinking of a cheap week in Ksamil in June. Completely open to the tips mate
