Albania for a holiday.

Used to work with a lad who had worked a night shift job ower there loading and unloading boats on deserted beaches very quickly by moonlight. Good money for an hour or so a neet…………until he got greedy plus started sampling the merch. Cant go home now.

Last I heard he was still pretending to be a Kosovan refugee from the Yugoslavian civil war while using his knowledge of the favours owed to each other by Italian, French, Greek and Turkish football clubs to supplement his surshal. The bookies ower here unfortunately now tend to refuse bets on certain fixtures in the last few months of the season so he may have diversified his interests.
Just don't tell the locals that you can't stand Norman Wisdom.
They can’t stand him either. Communist regime stoogevthat he was.

I loved him as a kid but he was a right arsehole in real life apparently.

Was in Kosovo last month and the amount of Albanian flags I saw and the hospitality of the people I'd recommend it. Guessing Albania is more touristy though, but it'll still be cheap and amazing.

Highly recommend Kosovo for anyone into mountaineering though.

Absolutely class, recommend it a lot.

Start in the north, shkoder, hike one day Valbona to theth, especially if you can do it in November the autumn colours are amazing. Canny ferry ride up the river to Valbona too.

Tirana, interesting place for the communism history and everything cheap and easy to do.

Berat and Gjirokaster very beautiful ottoman places with plenty to see in the towns or just out side.

Would head past Sarande and get down to Ksamil and Butrint but depends on the weather.

Any tips you need let me know.

Was talking to someone in Croatia who'd been to Tirana and said it was with a visit. They'd flown to Montenegro and had a few beach days (which they also recommended) then gone onto Tirana. It's on my to do list.

Anyone on here been?

Looks decent and still a bit undiscovered tourism wise.

Had a few days in Tirana in about 2008. Really enjoyed it. The people are genuine, and will make you feel incredibly welcome. Probably one of the most welcoming countries I've been to, without being awkward.

Beer is cheap and very drinkable.

Food was a bit chancy at times, but I'd imagine it's got better in 14 years!

Any place where the houses are massive and filled multiple generations of the same family usually brilliant. Kind of place where they keep a cow in the garden. It’s a yes from me. Love that part of the world.

I went there about 3 years ago. Really liked it.

Flew to Corfu, got a ferry to Sarande , spent a week there, including hiring a motorbike and touring around. They really love us there, it is very unspoilt and I'm really glad I went.

It won't suit everybody so do your research first.
