Alan Partridge live

Me and a few others seeing him at Newcastle Arena next Wednesday.

They've cancelled our original e tickets and have automatically given us new ones (still seated together luckily) 2 blocks in front of where we originally had seats, for the same price. Clearly it hasn't sold well. Strange that they added the extra Newcastle date (for the night before) as well, I'd assumed it was because loads of people bought tickets a year ago when it went on sale not long after lockdown ended and the demand to book live events was through the roof, clearly not.

The reviews I've read of this live show so far are mixed, hope it's decent. Doubt it'll be I'm Alan Partridge tier but still hopefully a laugh.

I’m a big Partridge fan but I was not impressed unfortunately.

Shame 😐

Same. Shame tbh.

Went to see it tonight at the arena, only laughed about 4 or 5 times in the 2 hours.

This and the one show spoof makes me feel he should have left the character with mid morning matters about 10 or 15 years ago.

Again, huge shame as I’m Alan Partridge is one of the best sitcoms ever imo.
Got front row tickets for Leeds next month. Might actually be looking to pass them on at cost price as I can’t even afford the train fare down never mind hotel and everything that goes with it.

If you’re expecting it to be on the same level as I’m Alan Partridge or Mid Morning Matters I’d honestly not bother. Thought it was very disappointing this show.

Been tonight at the arena.

I enjoyed it, not a touch on his other Partridge stuff mind. Can see why reviews are mixed, like someone said earlier in thread would have been much better suited to empire or city hall.

6/10 although the time travelling part was a solid 9

Think it's the subtleties that make Partridge and him having such a high opinion of himself and a low opinion of everyone else when we know he's a bit of a loser. But it's hard to see him as a loser when he's on stage in front of thousands of people. He'd have been better off with a MMM type format. The story could be that the station wanted him to take the radio show on tour but he used it to promote his own thing and use the radio callers as a filler.

They were selling tickets for £18 last week, it nearly tempted me along, but I decided against it.
Just can't imagine AP working well in an Arena. Hope those who went enjoyed it though.

Well worth it for 18 quid like. Quite a few laugh out loud moments

It wasn't absolute textbook partridge, but then you aren't really going to get that in an arena. I enjoyed it though and don't regret going at all. The bit with the sofa at the start of part 2 was class.

First time I've been to an arena gig in donkeys, and the queues for the new security standards are canny horrendous like.

Same, first time I've been to the arena for anything in about ten years.

Those queues were awful, shocked we actually made it in on time, turned up at 20 to 8 and had to join that huge queue down the left side which was the whole length of the building thought we were going to miss the start and more, then through the metal detectors then everyone being filtered through 1 doorway with a bloke scanning tickets with people all jostling to get through the single door first. Ridiculous.

Would have been fine if they'd scanned your tickets while queuing for the security bit but hey ho.

It literally started as we were sitting down.
