Airbus A320 crashed in Karachi

A good summary of what's currently known. It seems no technical problems were reported until after the first landing attempt. The plane apparently landed with gear up and bounced three times on its engines before going around, but the impact had severed the fuel lines and the engines failed.

Still looking like pilot error.

Until I spoke to a stewardess about how busy they are I never realised that planes basically fly 24 hours a day.
The one we were on took off from Newcastle at 6am and flew to Tenerife and landed at 10am.
Spun round and took off at around 12 getting back to Newcastle around 5.
Quick spin and pick up Dalaman passengers for a 7pm take off and landed about midnight.
Another quick spin and took off at 2am getting back to the UK at 4/5am ready for the next Canaries flight.

Apparently the Canaries passengers want decent flight times, but the Turkey passengers accept crap flight times as it's cheaper.
Turkey has always had crap flight times

Sounds like he knew he was too high/fast on approach and thought that was why an alarm was sounding, not realising that the speed/height issue also prevented his landing gear coming down.

Imagine how terrified the pilot will have been when he realised he was trying to land without his wheels being down.
