Aiden Flint (rumour mill)

Would do well in a three with Doyle and Flanagan/Wright, and would work better in a two than the others aswell.

I think/hope they’re going to be concerned with recent results. Hopefully they go for it this transfer window and we finally get out of this god forsaken league.

Tricky though, get it wrong and we hamstring ourselves once more.

Either way, I'd be really happy with Flint if he has a couple of years left in him.

We are desperate for experience in the side. I can’t say I have watched an awful lot of him but he has consistently played at a higher level than we currently are and fits the bill of what we need demographically. I’ve been really impressed with Speakman since coming in, he really seems to know what he is doing.
Just what we need, a big strong centre back who can get in, rough the opposition forwards up without giving away pennas.

The credibility of rumour is questionable to say the least but this is type of signing we need
Big, strong defender with experience of higher league.
Players like him mean wins at games like Wycombe last week, we have good footballers a plenty
The bullied side We are found wanting too often for me and it will cost us
Would help us both ends on set pieces
Just can’t see it happening unfortunately he’s played every game for them

Would massively improve our back line and add that physicality we've been missing for so long. However, I'd be amazed if we sign him - he's got 20+ appearances for Cardiff this season. Saying that, they're struggling and might need him off the wage bill.

Short term deal, 1 year extension if promoted.

Could also be a loan move where we pay a portion of his wages for 6 months.

Either option wouldn't leave us hamstrung IMO.

Easy this football lark

Would be one of those that would work for a bit of experience and would be ideal for teams that bully us out of games. Although I am more in the brining young players in to develop camp. I wouldn't be against bringing Clarke Harris in as he's 27 just hitting his peak and would have that experience and has 4-5 years ahead of him career wise.

As others have stated, he would be a cracking signing at this level and if we went up, would be a good addition for next season.

Given how regular he is featuring for Cardiff this season and how much they're struggling this season, I would be surprised to see them let him go. However saying that, his contract is up in the Summer so perhaps they're thinking they could do with getting some cash for him now before he leaves for nothing.

Anyone who is linked over the age of 30 people is saying we need to sign only young players. If the contract duration is right, we need to have experienced players in the team to help all of these younger players. Our team the other night was essentially kids. The most senior were Pritchard, Flanagan and Winchester. All who are under the age of 30. I don't think you'll find many other teams that don't have a player in their starting 11 over the age of 30.

I think this would be ideal.

It's clear as day we struggle most against teams who get the ball quickly and directly into out box and Flint would automatically help with that.

We are probably at the stage now where we do need to complement the younger players with a bit more experience, and there's always going to be a risk in doing same, but it's worth taking as someone like Flint would be a very calculated gamble.

He has also scored 4 in 22 games in the Championship this season so would be a massive threat from set pieces, where we are already joint top scorers for same in the division.

He'd be comfortably the best CB in the division IMO.

I hope we can pull this one off.

Scored 6, 5 and 8 in his 3 seasons at Bristol City, and has 4 so far this season for Cardiff.

His season at Boro and first year at Cardiff weren’t so fruitful but he has a good record overall for a centre back.

Real threat from set pieces, from which we're already scoring a lot of goals. Also, he was the player (I think) that Bailey Wright lost his place to while he was out injured.

As long as he’s fit enough still he’d be a very astute addition.

Exactly what we need in the centre of defence

He could be a real force for us in the remainder of the season. Should help us not be bullied - and would probably get upwards of 5 goals from set pieces.

I think he is exactly what we need, despite Flanagan's general decent performance, to bring in someone better with Flints attributes (what you stated) would be great.

Any league one team would be lucky to have him but of course that brings issues of wages, length of contract, is he capable at his age to play in the league above for how long etc. I can only assume he would take a sizeable % of our allowance, as would Roberts.

Can't really see it.
