Not according to FW in terrace legends. It was 92. Had a big kick off on the wasteland allied carpets. Peterlee lads battered them down roker avenue then they reappeared outside the Fulwell just before ko and got another bashing. After the game was mental, seaburn took the piss. It changed in the 90s big time
as a kid i remember the bother made the front page of the even chronicle or the northern echo, the away "freindly" was 1-1 iam sureI cannot remember the year, but it was probably 81 or 82, and we played the Mags at Roker, in a pre season game.
There was hell on before the game, on the corner, across the road from the Fort (I think Hays travel shop was there) and there must have been 50 to 100 Sunland and Mags fighting.
I remember a lot of the Mags who were involved, were wearing tartan, for some strange reason.
Hell on outside RP and in the ground too.
I was in the Roker, stood near to the Mags, when suddenly a bog seat, came flying into the Sunland fans, and just missed me, but hit a lad square in the face.
He was a bloodied mess, and it looked like, he had a serious eye injury.
For the record, we won 2-1, but I cannot remember, any more pre season games, taking place, against the Mags, after this one, probably due to all the bother, that went on, that day.

Who were the mags with Durham accents? It was 92. Had a big kick off on the wasteland allied carpets. From what I seen it was 50/50 there was blood everywhereI remember a load of lads in donkey jackets (so probably from Peterlee) braying Mags next to The Cambridge with bits of wood, bricks and allsorts before the '92 game.
What did FW sayNot according to FW in terrace legends.
I doubt he knows where it is at Sid James.Sorry, just a mag wanting to know we’re the ticket office was
Well I know what I saw and was involved in mate. I was too young to comment about the mags in 85 taking the piss, but I know hand in heart the mags who were a good mob got a big shock in 92. Seaburn had just became prominent around that time and I know of many lads who aren't having you coming through to take the piss anymore. Not according to FW in terrace legends.

look their biggest embarrassment was when we took their boys out at the Strawberry pub 3 years ago they bragged, and then shit a brick, they are all mouth.
Not seen him for years. Think the last game i saw him at was Derby (late 80's / early 90's) away when they decided to 'do some shopping' at Marks & Spencer. Few went down for that if i recall correctly. That’s the one.. is he still around
Was it not 92?
I parked out side Allied carpets. As soon as we got out the car we were sussed out by a few young Sunderland lads. There was four of us and were followed to the ground by an ever growing group. Two of the lads I was with were big lads, proper hard cases, so no bother. By the time we had got nearer the ground, there was about thirty behind us. Some black and whites off buses or a train were getting escorted to the ground and there was a mob of about 100 goading them. The lads behind us shouted to them we were black and white. We ran through this group in front and got a few punches thrown at us. Bloody scary. We were in the clock stand paddock and I just kept quiet during the game. It was Ok when we scored, but when you scored, we just held an arm aloft and got jostled about. Nobody clicked on we were Newcastle. The hatred was immense. I’ve been in with Sunderland fans many times, but I vowed never to again after that.
I was also in the clock stand seats in 1970 (I was 11) with a red and white mate and his grandad and I’ve never witnessed anything like it since.
Have you been to a hartlepool vcDarlington game?I was stood near you then- my last night in the cells was after this one, i think. Next to mags in clockstand and you were sussed- as a big gap appeared- there were also hibs fans in there for some reason- the atmosphere at derbies in sunderland early 90s were as toxic as they come in uk
