Well i beg to differ mate
Your opinion mate, we all see things differently.
I wrote that last night after a session in a Spanish bar on rum and coke.
My mate fell over twice on the walk home, I wasn't as bad, but still didn't realise I'd posted this until I got replies.

As regards the post, I will finish it now.
I was never into bother but saw loads and loads between 75 and 85.
At that time "we" behaved at Boro in a way Sunderland never would at Newcastle.

How many times did Sunderland try and "take" the Leazes?
Or later on, go into the Gallowgate in any numbers at all?
None as far as I know.
They came into the Fulwell often.

Going to Newcastle was f***ing scary at that time.
I used to sell programmes at RP, the office was a portokabin with windows in the away section of the Roker.
I remember a few of them arriving late and pissing against the windows, as we were counting money.

Another time about 30 of them did a full circuit of the ground singing their songs about 15 minutes before kick off.
Don't ever remember Sunderland doing that at Newcastle.
Just saying.

The time that as far as I remember, things changed was they tried it on in the early 90s and got a proper kicking everywhere.
A Mag mate of mine told me that Sunderland "was the worst place (for trouble) he'd ever been to".

Anyway that's how I remember it then.

I was in the Gallowgate at 15, four of us.We were just waiting to get stuck right in to them, until we watched dozens of them walking round the stand to our right , can’t recall much of it from then.

I can understand what you are saying but i never seen any mags walking around RP singing their songs, i'm not sayimg it didn't happen mind you, as for Newcastle being scary at that time, if you went to most grounds during that time they all had their hairy moments, i've been to the tip quite a few times and the only real trouble was the play off when we won 2-0, loads of trouble outside the ground but we gave as good as we got iirc.

You do remember rightly!

Had the balls to do it- when did we have 150 in the leases?
I was in the leases end (top tier stand though) for the Adam Johnson derby. With two mates. One managed to keep quiet....me and the other couldn't hold it in...went mental..Escaped with our lives thanks for a swift, but friendly steward. Does that count as taking the lease end? There were around 10,000 of us....well, 3 plus a friendly steward

In the late 70s I was walking over the bridge when a group of mags chased the Sunderland fans back towards the town. I would say they were in charge at that point. Then came Bath Lane in 1979.......

1970 was different - warfare in the fulwell apparently
Not much trouble to be honest. For the only time in my memory away supporters entered early and in their thousands and I mean lots of thousands and stayed. This incident has been discussed before on here with most posters having a different view without actually being in attendance. In 1985 they made themselves known then couldn't get out quick enough. Again very little trouble.

Will never forget a have at RP in the nineties v the scum.
Was walking down Roker avenue with my mate and his dad.
Dutton Forshaws had just been flattened.
Bricks were thrown by both sets of fans.
I heard a number of the mags talking prior to the event.
I honestly thought they were Sunderland as they had Durham accents.
I'm wondering what year ?
Possibly 91/92 season?

Was it not 92?
I parked out side Allied carpets. As soon as we got out the car we were sussed out by a few young Sunderland lads. There was four of us and were followed to the ground by an ever growing group. Two of the lads I was with were big lads, proper hard cases, so no bother. By the time we had got nearer the ground, there was about thirty behind us. Some black and whites off buses or a train were getting escorted to the ground and there was a mob of about 100 goading them. The lads behind us shouted to them we were black and white. We ran through this group in front and got a few punches thrown at us. Bloody scary. We were in the clock stand paddock and I just kept quiet during the game. It was Ok when we scored, but when you scored, we just held an arm aloft and got jostled about. Nobody clicked on we were Newcastle. The hatred was immense. I’ve been in with Sunderland fans many times, but I vowed never to again after that.
I was also in the clock stand seats in 1970 (I was 11) with a red and white mate and his grandad and I’ve never witnessed anything like it since.

I think it could have been 92.
Before the Keegan days my work colleague supported both clubs.
He was from Fram iirc.
He was threatened around SJP and told never to return as he was not a Geordie.
He subsequently hated Newcastle.

I cannot remember the year, but it was probably 81 or 82, and we played the Mags at Roker, in a pre season game.
There was hell on before the game, on the corner, across the road from the Fort (I think Hays travel shop was there) and there must have been 50 to 100 Sunland and Mags fighting.
I remember a lot of the Mags who were involved, were wearing tartan, for some strange reason.
Hell on outside RP and in the ground too.
I was in the Roker, stood near to the Mags, when suddenly a bog seat, came flying into the Sunland fans, and just missed me, but hit a lad square in the face.
He was a bloodied mess, and it looked like, he had a serious eye injury.
For the record, we won 2-1, but I cannot remember, any more pre season games, taking place, against the Mags, after this one, probably due to all the bother, that went on, that day.

It was 92. Had a big kick off on the wasteland allied carpets. Peterlee lads battered them down roker avenue then they reappeared outside the Fulwell just before ko and got another bashing. After the game was mental, seaburn took the piss. It changed in the 90s big time

I remember a load of lads in donkey jackets (so probably from Peterlee) braying Mags next to The Cambridge with bits of wood, bricks and allsorts before the '92 game.
