Spent 6 months with the ANA, on the whole ‘ unworkable’. Many a time on patrol with them off their tits. Fighting with each other , shooting each other, firing in a 360 degree arc in contact. We knew at the time that theyd never be a fighting force. Not to take anything away from them as people, they were just normal afghans pulled from whatever backwater. Some were good mind!
