Idiot. He's won a Premiership title and played for England and you have spent your life watching Sunderland heroes such as Grag Halford, Clive Clarke and Pal McShane.....

Milan Baros won the Champions League, doesn't make him any good.

It's all relative though, as far as players we have had on our books over the last 20 years putting Adam Johnson in the "shite" category is f***ing moronic.

He scored a goal in a derby win but gets zero credit for it, the mad Italian deserves to be in the SAFC history books though apparently. Our support are beyond a joke sometimes.[DOUBLEPOST=1389223858][/DOUBLEPOST]
"Adam Johnson goes down with the likes of Gary Rowell, Marco Gabbiadini, Kevin Phillips and Niall Quinn as key components of a Sunderland win away to Newcastle United'.

The dafties who like mouthing off prefer to pretend this didn't happen.

Means little really with other players making similar noises. I didn't stop him coming on and helping influence the game last night did it? I'm one of his biggest critics but ha'way man, some would twist on 21 ffs.

One of his best performances for us.

I think both cups have been devalued for all kinds or reasons over the past 10 years or so and a lot of players of his (the premiership) generation just don't see those competitions in the same light as the fans do anymore. I think he's merely a casualty of the times in which he plays.

My point was quite obvious.

Mindless gorms want a day of glory. Sensible fans want long term success.
Please define long term success. 17th every year ad nauseum? Because shy of a filthy rich arab we ain't going to win the league, so I'd like you to tell me what success at a club like Sunderland would actually equate to? To me winning a piece of silverware is as good as its EVER likely to get.

Most SAFC fans have never seen us winning a trophy. Its about winning things!

Everyone entitled to their opinion including Johnson....For me I want to win a cup this year more than anything. I look back with great fondness to '73 as a massive and joyous event in my life. Since then apart from a few crackin seasons it has been pretty miserable by and large. So when Im sitting in the care home in 20 or so years down the line Id like to look back to now in the same way as I did then. Somehow when it gets to that time I dont think I'd sit there being fed soup thinking "remember that time in f***ing 2014 when we avoided relegation on goal difference"

Adam Johnson: I can't really understand why some fans would rather win a cup than stay up.

He has a point like

I dont know why he has better than average games in the cup, but is absolutely rank in the league games. If only eh ?

We do have some clowns on here anyone with half a brain will want safety
rather than the cup, we wont win that either

Who has said we have to choose one over the other like? I want Sunderland to win every game, be it league, cup, friendly... and surely the players and fans have exactly the same attitude.

Needs to perform like that week in week out. Top brass are not prepared to pay AJ what he is on if he isn't doing that.
He'd still be at man city if he performed week in week out

He can't even get a regular place at a bottom of a table team so no chance of him gan to brazil
