Adam Johnson - surely not?

On loan

And surely our wage bill is well down now due to the amount of outgoings

Saying that still wouldnt be surprised if we peddled him

The only bit about the report I find fanciful is the suggestion of a loan deal. I've no doubt whatsoever that Johnson would be sold if Everton or any other club offered upwards of £8 million.
Johnson despite his critics has been one of our most creative players but the bottom line is he wasn't Poyets choice. Gradually Gus will introduce to the squad players he has identified / targeted as being suitable for his preferred system. A quicker way of doing this is by moving on some of the more valuable assets to accumulate a larger spending fund. I think Johnson and Fletcher both fall into the expendable catergory.

Double figures in goals and assists....only wingers at top 4 clubs can match that.

I would only sell at a considerable profit to what we paid for him.

We won't send the lad onloan, but any bid around 9m will see him being sold IMO

The problem with that theory is that given money to spend and freedom to choose his players Gus bought two duds. I certainly wouldn't be happy if we are going down what route (again) of selling the crown jewels and buying fake Rolex's.

This is actually in the Sunday People today but follows a similar one I highlighted on PF about 3 weeks back.
Today's offering says Everton are interested in a season-long loan of Johnson - but not in buying him.
It adds that Sunderland have "found no takers since informing middlemen that they were prepared to listen to offers".
As I said last time, no way I'd do this unless a VERY good replacement was in the bag. Seems the reason (if true) is simple wage-bill reduction.

I've read some made up horse shit in my time, but the mirror seem to excel in this reguard. You would think that they'd involve a bit of logical sense when creating their Sunday bullshit. Nice to see people on the board continue getting self indignant at fairy stories though.

Absolutely shocking if we are still persevering with this wage reduction shit at all costs after last season's mega-close shave.

It would not surprise me. He's our most saleable asset, so as with all of those assets before him, he's likely to be heading for pastures new. It's the safc way. :)

I wish I shared your optimism. :(

When someone has form for doing things it's not unreasonable to think they may do it again.........and our form for selling our best players stretches right back to when I first started watching the club back in the 60's.
