I remember sky sports article on the tv it started with the words

"he was one of England's finest"

erm no he wasn't :lol:
 
I remember the excitement when he first came into the team, he played in the ODI series v the Aussies before the 1997 test series and looked very good, we won 3-0 IIRC.

I can't remember whether he played before that though, did he play in the 1996 world cup or have I imagined that?
