Accrington Stanley - Tickets Sold

I don’t think the ticket issue is cash , must people can and do use cards now , the issue is for those who struggle technology to buy tickets , even last week I couldn’t get 2 tickets on my phone and had to put my laptop on , loads won’t have a laptop and would have just said or will say … bollocks I’ll not bother , and I knew I couldn’t get tickets on day from the ground

Maybe some day, people will be able to buy match tickets from bank atm's, like they do in Barcelona, for Barca matches.
It's so simple to use, just pop the bank card into the machine, and select match tickets, from a list of on screen options.
Select which area of the ground you'd like to sit in, from the on screen ground plan, and then select a vacant seat, and Hey Presto, the ticket is dispensed and your bank card is subsequently debited.
Easy peasy.

If the club are so reluctant to open cash turnstiles on a matchday, they could perhaps give some serious thought, to having individual match day tickets, sold at atm's across the city.
I'd probably make a right arse of it and forget I wanted a ticket, ask for £50 and get 50 tickets - mind I'd soon get rid of them by standing outside the ticket office and flogging them to fans who haven't got a card...

I'd be naffed off being in the queue behind a family doing all that, like

Would it not be possible to have some sort of atm machine at the ground that could issue tickets ,perhaps without the purchaser having a choice of location ,so it would be a quick transaction

thats exactly what it is. people seem to blurring the issues between the cashless thing, which really isn't that much of a problem in my opinion, and the whole not being able to buy a ticket at the match. because most of the posters on here are computer literate and are well aware of the process etc.. some automatically think that everyone is. and they aren't. there is also a lot of floating fans around who may decide to go on the morning of the match, or people who might be rushing from work or waiting to see if their mate is coming, or people who have never been to the match before. instead of just walking to stadium an hour earlier and buying a ticket, they have to:

  • on your phone, go to safc.com, then follow the link the eticketing
  • register with the eticketing website, filling in all your personal details etc..
  • go to your email inbox (hopefully you have your emails handy in an app), find the email and activate your account
  • go back to the eticketing website and log in
  • find the game, open the stadium plan, find the seats you want and select how many you want
  • go through the process, entering bank details etc.. and complete the purchase
  • go back to your emial inbox and open the pdf attachment (hopefully you have a pdf reader on your phone)
  • screenshot each individual qr code, making sure not to accidentally screenshot the same one twice
  • go to whatsapp, and send your mate(s) their screenshot of their QR code (hopefully they all have phones and all have whatsapp)
  • have your mates go to their online banking and send you the money (hopefully they all have online banking on their phones and have your details already in)
  • go to the match

sounds like a piece of piss when your sat in the house at your desk on a laptop, but people are expected to do this whilst stood outside the ticket office or sat in the pub. people who were already sitting on the fence about going in the first place. people who may not be quick and confident on their phones. its f***ing nuts. just open the ticket office

Well summarised mate, it's hard to argue with any of what you have raised

Was down the ticket officea couple of hours ago, (11-ish) and a smallish very slow moving queue. I'd guestimate about 45 minutes.

Got the "Buck your ideas up and get an E-ticket because we will be stopping paper tickets" pep talk.

I'm hopeful we'll get over 30k.

You are right mate. I miss generalised in relation to the broader Sunderland. There are areas of Sunderland, especially surrounding the stadium where these levels are a fair bit below the broader average. The under 30’s is down at the 60 percent range. I do think our attendance will be affected by any passport. If this were about health then surely letting them take a test would be acceptable. This government and its departments have a real petty streak. Look at the whole Geronimo thing. In this case they want us all jabbed and if you don’t get it you will be punished.

The problem with that is that, unless the test is done at the event, people can and do report a negative lateral flow test when they've not actually done one at all. It's those people gaming the system who are responsible for self-administered negative tests being deemed unacceptable.

Yes but as always the majority won’t. There is no foolproof system. There will potentially be just as many vaccinated people in the stadium with the virus.
If the stadium was reflective of the community then:

27,000 in attendance are vaccinated. Community spread currently is estimated as @1% of the population. So 270 could be infected. The vaccine is @ 50% effective at preventing infection/transmission. Therefore maybe 135 vaccinated people could be infectious.

On the flip side if the remaining 3000 people were not vaccinated and 1% of the population is infected then maybe 30 people from the unvaccinated could be infectious.

I know it’s not a string like that and it’s way more complex but when the vast majority of the population is vaccinated there is more likelihood of getting infected by someone with a vaccine than without. As long as you are jabbed and have a working immune system then you should be ok. Therefore ensuring you are protected is THE most important thing.

Of course all of this science and mathematics becomes irrelevant if i get knocked over by a bus on the way to the match.
