Accrington Stanley - Tickets Sold

Getting married this weekend so will be the second game in a row I miss (missed Wycombe because of work and I couldn't get a shift swap). I'll miss the Bolton game as well so 3 home games in a row, don't think I've ever done that before in 36 years. She'd better not think this will ever happen again
🤣🤣🤣

I think COVID is a factor right now but August is always lower due to vacations. We might see an increase now school is back. If they bring in the passports then we might see a big drop. Sunderland has a much lower take up than most other places.
Sunderland is actually around or above the national average for vaccine take up so don't think that could be used in the debate around our attendances.
The lack of a couple of cash turnstiles probably has more of an impact.

They’re going to do it, also looking at partnerships across the City where you can get tickets from, e.g local Post Office or something
Good idea
I think covid will definitely still be having an impact on crowd size. There will be a fair few older ones not going in my opinion.
Agree but prob only 1000 max, the ballache to get tickets needs resolving , needs to be easier to buy on your phone (not laptop !) , and able to buy from
Outlets and on the day near ground

It is just odd behaviour by any business to make it soooo difficult to give them money - at least this week no need to get a move to the season ticket seat...what a carry on

one works funny hours and usually makes a decision to go to the game at the last minute.

the other hasnt a fangled phone or computer. I sometimes get the job of sorting him a ticket via a phonecall to the ticket office and we pick up on day of the game but honestly I wouldnt know where to start at the moment.

Im sure there are many like these.

The club is heading in the right direction and I do not like being critical but this is constructive criticism...it needs to sort this mess out now before many more fans just find easier ways of enjoying their freetime without the hassle of trying to go to the match.

How many tickets sold for Saturday...29,000...a great effort but could be a lot more.
And not to mention it just happened over night.

Maybe some day, people will be able to buy match tickets from bank atm's, like they do in Barcelona, for Barca matches.
It's so simple to use, just pop the bank card into the machine, and select match tickets, from a list of on screen options.
Select which area of the ground you'd like to sit in, from the on screen ground plan, and then select a vacant seat, and Hey Presto, the ticket is dispensed and your bank card is subsequently debited.
Easy peasy.

If the club are so reluctant to open cash turnstiles on a matchday, they could perhaps give some serious thought, to having individual match day tickets, sold at atm's across the city.

Sounds a good idea but that would need infrastructure etc. Can't see it happening.

Nargh, you might do it to watch Barca but can't see it catching on here.

Agreed it'd take some doing, but it can be done, and it's something the club could give some thought to checking out the pro's & con's of implementing it.

I have ben told that this is planned, but the person that told me also said we were signing Messi.

I think that's why we are where we are at the moment, at least that's the best sense I can make of it.

I am certain the club don't want to miss out on cash people would willingly part with. However, having listened to Speakman in his interview it sounds like there are several areas of the club where things are being overhauled but it's taking longer than expected. I'd imagine that goes for day to do stuff like how we sell tickets etc as well as the footballing side of things.

I am hesitant to give the last lot any praise at all, but they were on the ball with regard to how to extract money from the fans without doing much to deserve it. I have a feeling however they didn't leave a lot in place that was worth maintaining which is why we are building from nothing post covid/takeover. People will say "how hard is it to have a ticket office open" etc but I think they don't want to go back to how things were running before, in the longrun hopefully we end up better off (all aspects of the club) than we were before.

Thought I was going to miss this but engineered an early finish from work on Saturday. Few cans whilst working from home could be in the offing on Saturday afternoon before a quick dash to the match

Where did you gleam that from?

National Average Vaccine Take Up (age 16+)
1st dose 88.9%
2nd dose 80.3%

Sunderland Vaccine Take Up (age 16+)
1st dose 84.2%
2nd dose 76.4%
Lower but certainly not "much" lower

For context the Skunks figures are
1st dose 72.4%
2nd dose 62.8%

and Westminster (currently the worst, but most of London is similar)
1st dose 57.2%
2nd dose 49.8%

You are right mate. I miss generalised in relation to the broader Sunderland. There are areas of Sunderland, especially surrounding the stadium where these levels are a fair bit below the broader average. The under 30’s is down at the 60 percent range. I do think our attendance will be affected by any passport. If this were about health then surely letting them take a test would be acceptable. This government and its departments have a real petty streak. Look at the whole Geronimo thing. In this case they want us all jabbed and if you don’t get it you will be punished.
