Accident leechmere road and the top of Strawberry bank..

There was an accident there yesterday too. Left lane of strawberry bank was blocked off while they sorted it out. That whole roundabout boils my piss like, particularly people who use the right hand lane on Leechmere Road to fly across the roundabout and cut people up on the other side.

Drivers have every right to us the right hand lane to go straight over, it's still 2 lanes on leaving the roundabout.

No it isn't. They crosshatched the right hand lane of Essen Way coming off the roundabout a couple of years ago. Therefore I have every right to call anyone using the right hand lane to go straight across the roundabout a complete and utter fucktard.

exactly that roundabout is a magnet for bellends, coming over from the Hope to go straight on over towards the town they get in the right hand lane instead of the left, then wonder why they collide on the corner

That's perfectly legal as there are no road markings to indicate other road positioning on the hope road. On leechmere road there is, for turning down strawberry bank. However no road markings don't give drivers the right to be intolerant

from leechmere rd to essen way, road markings indicate left lane for turn left up the hope or straight ahead along essen. right hand lane only for turning right down strawberry bank

You're meant to merge at the merge, not 500 yards before, over the roundabout in the right side lane, taking the second exit.

You only ever use the right lane when your exit is past 12 o'clock, nowadays. It's drummed into new drivers.

Most of Essen Way, in essence.

That's Bollocks. There's two lanes exiting onto that roundabout and two lanes available entering the road onwards. Left lane to left lane and right lane to right lane. It's got fuck all to do with past twelve o clock bollocks.

Common sense goes out of the window though. The driver in the right lane knows the road crosshatches, so thinks if they get their toe down they will emerge in front of the car on the left. It's an awful roundabout regardless of which way you approach it.

It isn't bollocks - it's on the driving instructor standards bumf.

Things might have updated since you passed your test, but as things stand, as we drive on the left, you should use the 12 o'clock guidline. Not always infallible, but a good base.

There's probably so many accidents on this stretch because of people's driving, suggesting they're going wrong somewhere.

Aye, for single lane entry, exit roundabouts. As soon as two lanes are introduced, especially for a traditional cross roads roundabout, it's standard to encourage flow in each lane. For the numpties they now paint arrows on the road to make it easier. This ones so simple it doesn't need arrows. Or perhaps it does?

12 o'clock guidline keeps you in good stead mate.

It's as intrinsic as give way to your right.

You're a f***ing danger to us all, you mate! :)

What utter shite. Two lane roundabout. Left hand lane is turn left or straight on. Right hand lane is straight on or right hand exit. There's nothing wrong with going straight from right hand lane to right hand lane straight on in this type of roundabout.

Have it your way, Jeremy f***ing Clarkson. :)

I dont remember seeing any road markings on the road from Sainsburys to hollymere to suggest you cant go straight over in the right hand lane. The left hand have to move over and merge into the right lane after they have crossed the roundabout

You absolutely can use the right hand lane to go straight ahead if there are two lanes on and two lanes off a roundabout mind.

You stay in the left - you don't switch lanes on the roundabout.

If the road was a clock...... Ah fuck it

Okay, so why can you not use the right hand lane to traverse the roundabout then exit on the right? The merge is due to cars parking in the left hand lane further up the road and has nothing to do with normal driving convention.

You can do whatever you want, but you're doing it wrong.

Can you remember when you passed your test not long ago - your instructor telling you you'll fail your test if you can't get back to the left safely and without impeding over motorists?

You're missing the point - it isn't what you can do, but what you should do.

Do you want 10 driving lessons for nowt to get you up to scratch?
