Had a nice little fire in the bottom of my garden in a barrell, just burning garden rubbish etc.

Next thing I know the cops are at my door, acting on advice from a local resident that they are concerned that the smoke will be straying into a local field and worried about the kids in the field enhaling toxic fumes?!??!?!

I said fair enough so got the hose and went down the garden to put it out, next thing I know theres a fire engine pulling up with about 8 men in.

The barrell by this time was down to about half way and one of my farts would blow more smoke out than the fire.

Anyway what really boils my piss, is that the police are still no further forward with a hit and run when a man was killed a few weeks ago.

Rather than residents phoning the police about non entities why not let them concentrate on catching real criminals for once?

As far as the fire brigade are concerned, did they really need to be called out?

Is it illegal to have a fire in your own back garden? Genuine question, would have thought burning garden waste would be alright. Always seemed to be bonfires on the go when I was younger.

I know it's against the terms of your rent / tenancy agreement with Gentoo and plenty of private landlords.

I think it's a bit of a grey area for private property, I've heard of the police clamping down on bonfire night but based on what law i don't know, though they can act on safety grounds I suppose.
