I just typed in Monkwearmouth and the map became covered..Roker Avenue..Gladstone Street..Swan Street..Dene Terrace..loads from Hendon..i was telling a lad at work yesterday how shite it is that there's medals from WW1 all over E Bay and one of the first ones I showed him was a Private Carr of the DLI..his army number was 22 less than my Great Grandfathers and he was killed the day after my Great Grandfather..4th August 1916..weird to think they may have even known each other.
