Some of those people you mention now get looked down upon. Just read this thread. The mixed crowd is the key really for me.
I was brought up in a pub. We used to get everyone, from local business owners, to binmen and pit yackers in. A real cross section, but in a pub, they are all equal. Local successes, rubbing shoulders with people they wouldn't ordinarily meet in their days, and vice versa.
All had one thing in common though. They were in the pub to have a good time, and meet their marras. We are losing that.
It used to be, along with the church, the centre of the community.
With the odd exception, that is gone now. And the local communities are all the worse for it. Sad really.
Yeah it is the vesta tilly. It was a Canadian pub for a while but I don't keep up with the name changes.Where is the Black Bull? Do you mean Vesta Tilly?
Not that often. I've got mates who drink in the town every Friday. I recently started going out with them on the odd Friday but I wouldn't do it every week. I've been going to more local to me pubs like the board Inn and the stables for a very long time now. But it stopped because of COVID and never started again. You don't sound as if you're a regular as you didn't know The Terrace which has been there for at least 8 or so years. How often do you go out? Perhaps you'll answer this question.
Not that any of this is relevant to whether four quid for a pint is a rip off or not.
