There's already a long line which the GK mustn't cross before the kick is taken - called the goal line.

What annoyed me most about this is that they are being pedantic about the goalkeeper but there was clearly Argentinian players in the box when the penalty was scored, so why isn’t that pulled up?

Sadly it was the right decision. They are just applying the rules. Horrible that it was in injury time and hard to take after celebrating saving the 1st kick but it was the right decision.

It isn’t really the right decision when you are pulling some things but not others though. Right decision is that penalty is taken a third time. They are just picking and choosing what to enforce and what not to. Likewise with the VAR review for the penalty to begin with, the lass who receives the ball is clearly offside before being fouled but this is negated as they just pick and choose what they want to see

Yeah that's true and it looked like the jock had nicked the ball. So tough. If there was an offside and if they had players encroaching then it does seem harsh to just pick up on the one aspect. VAR is a bit like the internet, good for some things but bad for others (bit like the ex-wife)

Not allowed - keeper must be in the field of play, ie on the goal line, when the kick is taken, so unless timed their leap from behind it so that they crossed the goal line at exact moment that the kick is struck it would be retaken...
