A kick in the teeth for beer lovers

I drink it in the local tbh. It's a Heineken pub and they've drove up the prices of Moretti to such a level it's unsustainable for me to have a social sup with the boys on a regular basis without having to remortgage the house.

I wouldn't know what the strength of any lager is - I just pick what's on offer and sup it. Although, for some reason, my kidneys get very aggrieved when I resort to supping Stella.

If i remember, lagers in the 80's was around 3.5-4% anyway, started my drinking around then (15/16yo), even was bought a few pints off my parents as it wasn't considered strong. Was in the 90's that it started rising, especially when the wife beater came on the scene, which I liked, although for session drinking not the gear you should be on. 3.7% wouldn't bother me if was a nice pint and out for a few.

Perhaps they want to rebrand it as a sessionable beer. They've realised they can't compete with the Moretti, Miguels and Madris of this world, and are falling by the wayside, so instead are targeting the Bud Light crowd.

If it was a in a fancy patterned 330ml cab with SESSION stuck on it, nee one'd bat an eyelid.

3.7% may be a bit low, but I have found meself drifting back towards the 4%ers if I'm on a big one. Ya cannot sustain 5% beers past 6-8 pints.

That’s probably why madri is the MLF lager as it is at a beautiful sweet spot of 4.6%

Stella is still lush in cans like. Love an Asda 30 cans for 21 quid deal.

The 3 for £21 deal in Asda was amazing! But they’ve stopped doing it now. They said it would probably come back but they weren’t sure when. They also done 2 bottles of spirits at Christmas 2021 for £20 but again stopped that aswell.
About 100% after a session on that

That’s one drink I’ve never tried and I don’t think I ever will, I’d probably over do it and end up with alcohol poisoning, the joys of not knowing your limits 😂

That’s been reduced hugely over the years. When I stated to drink it was 5.2%. It’s now 4.5%

It's back on now. Going down tomorrow to get some more.

Heineken are clueless bastards mind. They've got a right bee in their bonnets over reducing ABV. I remember that farce around 15 years ago where they dropped the percentage of Heineken down to toddler levels, then had to u turn and bump it back up. They've had this big launch of Heineken Silver recently and it's the most pointless lager ever, absolutely tasteless piss that makes the likes of Coors seem like a DIPA in comparison.

Foster's is just matching the piss water level of Carling who a couple of years had a court case with the tax man about the amount of duty they paid, they successfully argued that even though it was advertised as 4% in reality it was only 3.7% so they had reduced their duty payments. I would guess Fosters is going down the same route but just dressing it up as a new recipe 🤦

The offers back but it's now 3 for £22.

Moretti has quite a distinct hoppy taste to it, I’d prefer the crispness of a Fosters on a hot day.
I never drank Fosters for a while but noticed in one bar we go in it was £1 cheaper than the Coors I’d normally get at the time, I’ll drink anything so a pound is a pound.

I’ve not drank Coors much since, San Miguel in Spoons.

Fosters is the only one of the cheap tier mainstream lagers (Carling, Coors etc) which has the distinct taste as if you've just licked an old 1p piece that's been festering in the bowls of an arcade machine for about 15 years.

Horrid stuff.

Makes me want to vomit just recalling the taste.

I'm not even an IPA (although I do like them) snob.

Just cannot stand Fosters.
