A Holding Midfielder

There’s no harm at all in the expecting your centre midfielders to be able to do both tackling and covering and getting forward. We changed full backs to do that no reason we can’t change centre mids to go back to doing that. Sick to the back teeth of watching midfielders pass the ball sideways 5 yards and think job done
Get used to it because this is how Mowbrays team normally play. Gives the front 4 licence to basically be on the front foot trying to create.

If we want to push for the play offs then yes we should get someone in. A few saying o'nien can play there. He's repeatedly shown he's poor in midfield. We ideally could do with some experience there. Ekwah hasn't played a senior game yet, and michut and ba very inexperienced.

The comments on this thread are a joke

It’s almost as if some don’t understand what a holding midfielder is and/or the role Evans plays

Ekwah was clearly signed to add to the options we already had, not to replace Evans. That transfer has been in the pipeline for a while.

So based on our own plan, we're now a key midfielder light.
Or we bring those plans forward and the younguns get a chance earlier than expected.

Plymouth fans are raving about a young lad that plays there atm, they say he’slike Roy Keane on steroids. Matatie or summit, worth a bid.

Don't understand why he hasn't had more games and they even experimented with the Ba / Neil versus Cardiff?
We would surely just recall Matete if we needed cover...

It’s a tough call really. Michut hasn’t got the physicality either imo.
one of the guys at my work commented that they thought Michut was very combative and put himself about way more than his size would suggest. he was really impressed with Michut and Dan Neil. He couldn't believe how good and how young so many of our players are. The thing with young players is that their learning curve can be really steep simply because they go from having played once or twice to having played 20+ times very quickly. A player who has played 150 games playing 20 more doesn't really change much in terms of experience, but, for a kid, it's a huge amount of added experience. Like Amad and Dan Neil and others, I reckon given half a season, there'll be no questions over Michut.

Look at the size of Kante

I don't think a holding mid needs to be massive, but the comparison between Kante and Michut's size isn't really relevant. Kante is a short arse, but he is an absolute tank when it comes to strength.
Ekwah can play there, but instead of playing the ball backwards and sideways, he can play it forward quickly and can also run with it

Kante has a much higher work rate.
