A few on here getting a little bit touchy about the media

I agree with that for the most part like. I'm pissed that my club is being pissed on in the media too. But it think saying so once or twice is enough to get the message across. There's been about forty threads with hundreds of contributions though which are no more than "The media is having a go, this isn't fair." Easily as many, if not more, than the threads actually discussing what it is to have to look forward to. To me that's just bleating. It's not even about the club that much to be honest, I'm just irked by the amount of people having a wee grief circle jerk when they should move on

I haven't noticed that. I've seen people looking for evidence to refute the media claims and find ways to get their point across to them. I've seen people having a pop at the clowns weeping in public, the attention seekers and at the political opportunists. If you've seen a lot of people playing the victim hoy a few links up. That way they get to "explain themselves".

Some people just dont understand how the media and politics work, there light the touch paper and stand back and let the lynch mob do their job just like sheep  Ive got to say Ive been very disappointed with some people I know and work with, the real lack of intelligence and understanding while judging PDC without any real facts. It's made me look at them now in a totally different way from now on quite sad really.

I'm not interested in starting another witch hunt man, or naming or shaming or anything, I just ignore people who I know are going to do it now, no point wasting time on them at the moment

Fair do's if that's what you've seen, I'm not going to say I know better what you saw than you do. Just interpreted it differently is all.

I don't think it did. I'm just saying people on here have cultivated a victim complex is all.

Agree with everything else you say, I just don't think four days of saying how hurt and upset I am by it is anything other than a victim complex.

Fair enough mate but personally I think people have every right to feel pissed off with the way it's being covered by the media.

PDC making Headline news all day on sky, when north and South Korea are on the verge of war, just about sums it up.

Of course mate, we all have our own perspective on events. It would be a dull board if we all agreed with each other.

It is a bit ridiculous. I'd all but forgotten about the Korean situation until today's announcement that they'd sanctioned a possible nuclear strike and that the US is moving a missile defence system to Guam.

Not really.

The media being absolute shit stirrers is nothing new. People have reacted as though this is somehow unprecedented and a deeply emotionally scarring affair rather than the totally predictable sort of thing that happens every day.

And as I said above, most of you would be lapping it up and at the forefront of it and wouldn't have looked into the issue at all if PDC has been appointed manager up the road. You would have seen fascist and stopped at that because there would no interest in proving it wrong if they were involved.

So the media being totally unprofessional and pathetic doesn't equate to the majority on here not acting like hypocrites and victims. The amount of people who have taken the piss out of people acting outraged by posting how outraged they are is in the thousands.

Think this is a very good post.

The issue isn't Di Canio or Italy or Sunderland being treated especially unfairly. The issue is the "incident-centered" format of modern tabloids and rolling news. We hate it now because we can look into its face and know it's misrepresenting things and people we care for, but I know which way my knee might jerk when some celebrity gets arrested or Luis Suarez "does a thing."

Out of curiosity, do you think Di Canio is a c*nt?

On the money there marra. Look at Raol Moat. Britain had a summer of Moat in 2010. Unified the nation, the peoples suicidal maniac etc

And this is a joke as well. Football is one of *the* most political things outside politics. It shouldn't be, perhaps. But it is. PDC's biography, that git long article on him posted about a million times, those alone make it clear how closely related politics and football are to PDC, and Roman and Italian Football, let alone the wider picture.

What happens on the pitch isn't usually effected by Politics sure, but everything that goes up to that point is intensley political. THE EPL is owned by someone who has been the centre of a political shitstorm for the past three years. The league itself is a political matter discussed on here pretty much every day. Football is seen as the people's game, and as such, is political by default. It is about people, from all walks of life. It is incredibly political.

So for all that I understand people wanting the sentiment to be true, it manifestly isn't.

After 38 years playing and watching football, politics has never come into it. I don't feel persecuted by anyone, and in particular by the media, as they are opportunist vultures out to make a living. What has got my goat though are supporters jumping on board a faded politicians bandwagon, in an attempt to discredit the club in the local an national media by voicing their whiter than white morality.

The media shitstorm was fuelled by people associated with the club, without them their would be no circus, if it was the Mags doing it you could maybe understand that. All they had to do was sit back and laugh at us without having to lift a finger.

However, on the plus side at times like this it's good to see how the supporters react, and it certainly separates the wheat from the chaff.
