The OP shown to be rubbish and made a mockery of within 5 posts.

I don't want to add to his woes so ill leave it at that.

Not really.

The media being absolute shit stirrers is nothing new. People have reacted as though this is somehow unprecedented and a deeply emotionally scarring affair rather than the totally predictable sort of thing that happens every day.

And as I said above, most of you would be lapping it up and at the forefront of it and wouldn't have looked into the issue at all if PDC has been appointed manager up the road. You would have seen fascist and stopped at that because there would no interest in proving it wrong if they were involved.

So the media being totally unprofessional and pathetic doesn't equate to the majority on here not acting like hypocrites and victims. The amount of people who have taken the piss out of people acting outraged by posting how outraged they are is in the thousands.

Give me one example of a new manager being hounded and attacked by the media, on the kind of scale we have witnessed with PDC coming to Sunderland ...
Bearing in mind the fuckers have had 5 year, probably longer to question PDC over his views.

Just the one example will do.

Had off man. If that's true at all we've seen way more hand wringing and wailing from the "I can never go back" crew. The vast majority of people on here see it for what it is, a good time to bury bad news and they're pissed off at the mugs and opportunists who couldn't wait to step up to the plate to hand our woeful media cheap copy. They're the daft fuckers who've acted like Mags. What next, a red and white coffin?

Nicely said. I expected some fun pisstaking from mags, but I also expected a little bit more thought from Sunderland fans.

Some of us would have jumped on it, but the BBC should be about a fair judgment of someone from what they know. I don't blame twat Mag fans from jumping on it, i just didn't expect some of the better journalists and even some of our own supporters to jump into their piss stained bed with them and join in

That's irrelevant.I don't need to because I'm not disagreeing with any of that, the media have tried to instigate a witch hunt, been deliberately divisive, and it's been pathetically biased. I agree with you.

Which is the manner they pursue *everything*.

By all means, a well thought out and firm rebuttal of all that and assertion of the truth to correct all that, is the right response. I'm not just suggesting we duck our heads under the parapet or run away from the accusations.

Thing is on here most posts haven't been that. Hardly any attempts to suggest that this is just one more chapter in a f***ing library of media bullshit, no, it's special this time because it's about Sunderland AFC. They wouldn't ever do this anywhere else, the media, oh no. They're out to get us are the media, even though they basically treat us with a sort of benign neglect most of the time.

It's because it's Sunderland, poor us, poor Sunderland, wa wa, no other club would ever get treated as such. The fact that it was passed over at Swindon wasn't down to the fact that it was an appointment at f***ing Swindon rather than a team in the multimillion pound Premier League,, no it's because the media don't actually care but they hate us so they were looking for any excuse to have a go and PDC has provided that.

The vast majority of posts on the subject have just been some sort of assertion of "Why us" "This isn't fair" "They're out to get us". Every time someone tweets something, writes something, says something on TV, someone posts to tell us about it-they're out to get us. Heaven forbid that somebody say something in life that isn't accurate or educated or well observed or fair! Has anybody called the police about this?

It's all about us. It's paranoid, self-obsession for the most part I'm afraid, a total victim complex. It's not something the club usually demonstrate I'm glad to say, but it's been a real royal show this past few days.

And the saddest part of it all? Everyone whose done that has fallen for the media line hook line and sinker. You're all doing exactly what they want. They wanted you to get riled, to react, to go all primitive, and that's what you've done. If people ignored this or rebutted it with cold, boring argument it would die in minutes. You'll note how keen the media are to ignore those things as if they're not there? That's because they're the silver bullet. Too many dry, intellectual thought out replies and this dies. But so long as people just emote and jump around and make it all about them and make a spectacle of yourselves and the club, there's more than enough fodder in this for weeks at least.

I agree with that for the most part like. I'm pissed that my club is being pissed on in the media too. But it think saying so once or twice is enough to get the message across. There's been about forty threads with hundreds of contributions though which are no more than "The media is having a go, this isn't fair." Easily as many, if not more, than the threads actually discussing what it is to have to look forward to. To me that's just bleating. It's not even about the club that much to be honest, I'm just irked by the amount of people having a wee grief circle jerk when they should move on

The media knew the same things posted on here man . They wanted get their claws in and bring in these disgruntled fans to stir it up. I would have preferred we just kept our first stance and said f***ing read it yourself then bow to them with people now saying "Well that's all you needed to say in the first place"

I know. I said that in the post. I don't really get what your point is. I'm talking about people's reaction on here, not the club's, although like you I don't think the statement today was necessary either

Nah, the media have went for PDC and SAFC, well above their normal shit stirring antics.

And you've seen the response to that on here accordingly.

To lay the blame at supporters for lashing back is piss poor. I think you need to be aiming your amonoisty at the so called supporters who orchestrated the whole debacle after milliband made it into a political issue.

From what I can gather, the 'supporters' who went running to the media and organised anti PDC websites, were former employees of the club, labour members and people with another agenda.

It had nothing to do with people venting their anger on here.

I don't think it did. I'm just saying people on here have cultivated a victim complex is all.

Agree with everything else you say, I just don't think four days of saying how hurt and upset I am by it is anything other than a victim complex.

Agree but think the media have to take the main blame. I mean interviewing a 91 year old with a picture of him doing the salute and saying "What do you think of the new SAFC manager doing a nazi salute?" is gonna cause him to say something and upset the poor fella. In that respect i'm glad he said what he said today but others should have known better
