Most of the places I drink in don't take card like.

Why would people be willing to put their whole power (and ultimately right) to individually and discretely transact in the hands of the banks. Step towards a potential dystopia if you ask me... .but if it gets me a drink quicker

Has it’s uses I think. Can’t have a card everywhere and there’ll always be informal transactions that need cash.

Why can’t you have a card everywhere? The way technology is going it will be almost everywhere in this country soon.

Find it odd when I see anyone paying in cash now. Unless you're paid in cash there's no reason to be carrying round a load of notes.

i also have an annoyance with the tills that tell the shopkeeper how much change to give. getting rid of those will help folk do simple maths.

how far away are we from a place where cash isn’t used?

I always like to have some cash on me, but rarely if ever use it (buying the odd paper from the local shop). Everything else is just tapped these days, quicker and you don’t have to fanny on with change

Apparently Sweden is nearly there

A bloke did a little bit of work in my garden on Friday. It was £30 and I supplied cash, it has its advantages and blokes like him aren't going to carry around card readers.

They will in future when that's all normalised. It's becoming increasingly common now.

I haven’t heard a down side yet. There have been tech downtime of course, but this is becoming more and more robust.

No one would consider a paper ticket on the underground now, it’s all just tap. No one goes into a bank branch now, it’s all online or on your phone. No one buys cds now, it’s all streamed or downloads
