I used to have their first album which I quite liked, and then I bought Tarkus which I wasn`t as keen on.And then I gave up.Always thought they could`ve done with a "proper" Guitar player myself.Someone like Steve Hackett or Steve Hillage even would`ve been ideal and then they could`ve called themselves Help.Although no doubt all the egos would`ve kicked in and they would`ve had to be called elph or something.

If they had just stuck to knocking out those songs I would have been quite happy with them. I was a big King Crimson fan and liked Greg Lake a lot. In fact I liked the Nice and Atomic Rooster as well, it was just when they put the three of them together and they went off on those proggy flashfucker instrumentals I nodded off.

I don't know if anyone else on this thread has read 'Engleby' by Sebastian Faulks but there are a couple of bits in there about ELP, one of which made me laugh so much as I was wandering round at work listening to it on audiobook, the people at the bus stop must have thought I was barking.
