7 days is a long time in football

Before WBA on Saturday, Mike Dodd's name was like dog shit. Much of it will have been in jest, but many thought he should be peddled too.

Fast forward to now, a good amount of fans are saying give him the job. It's laughable, problematic and sensational tbh.

I'm easy, whether Dodd's is given an interim role till the end or the season or we end up with The Ginge.

Managers impact on the success of clubs is overrated, good players make good teams and Dodds just shows that anybody competent can manage good players.

I am not bothered who we get in.

It might yet in the next 7 days mate ;), smashing couple of wins but you know what happens on here when he hits a blip, the old PF attitude will come back

Completely disagree. Recently Mowbray seemed to lose his way and his answer was to chuck on 3 or 4 subs at a time which made us disjointed. Dodds has used his subs in a far more considered way and that, on both occasions, has changed the game our way. We can't ever know but I highly doubt that Mowbray would have won both these games. Now, that is just two games and it may be 'new coach bounce' but I think a top, tactically astute, coach can give a team an extra 10-20%. I would suggest that McKenna has really been the difference for Ipswich rather than the exceptional talent of the squad. Just the same that when we had Lee Johnson we weren't going but Alex Neil's skill set and ideas perfectly suited that period - its the third time he's come into a club in January time and got a club promoted. For me, the coach/manager is THE most critical role.

I'd have swapped any manager for a fit Ross Stewart.

Dodds is very good at what he does, if he become interim manager and we had a very shit run, he may leave the club altogether, that does tend to happen. It would be a poisoned chalice for him in that respect, keep him as academy director and appoint a proper head coach ASAP for me. Dodds has done great, ofcourse, though 2 home games v WBA and Leeds as difficult as they are, hasn’t really been the type of game we have pitfalls in. Both of those sides came to win, our Achilles heel is breaking down sides who sit back, the jury is still well and truly out on his capabilities. That’s not to say he hasn’t performed fantastic last 2 games, his set up and subs last 2 games were perfect.

When he got unexpectedly planted into the job for West Brom, he said TM already had a plan for WB AND Leeds..and he'll work with it.

:D Why would you?

Clearly bullshit, he got those boys working in training for Leeds. His bold starting line up against Leeds proved that he's not a geezer throwing random darts about.

We didn't just beat any old teams, we beat West Brom and Leeds, who're in 3rd and 5th. He's also completely changed the formation for both games and made game-changing decisions during both. Not to mention the players we had out through illness meant he had to pick a weakened side against Leeds.

He's done a brilliant job so far, and there's no reason he shouldn't be allowed a bit longer. To give him the boot now would be unfair imo, and I hope KLD thinks before he acts.

Dodds has plainly stated how he feels physically and emotionally drained after the two games . Thats not the constitution needed in a permanent manager for his or our benefit . Would hate to see the lad hurt and it can happen .

I'd say managers impact may be small but so is the margin of victory in a lot of games in this league
