  1. How EA's FIFA Games Are Changing Football

Surely to God, this can't be true?!?

People (well, games players) would enjoy a video game more than the real thing?

    • Disillusion with players' high wages?
    • Long periods of tedium between interesting bits?
    • The whole thing is over quicker, appealing to those with a limited attention span?
    • What the FUCK is the world coming to?

Soz for all the questions, but this has me totally discombobulated!

  2. Interactivity? You are involved in the video game, you have no involvement (physically or emotionally) in watching Man Utd vs Brighton.

Unless it's Sunderland aye I probably would too.
Really have very little interest these days.

  5. You would be surprised mate. FIFA is really a game for 25y - 35y olds these day.

The U11s dont play video games as much anymore - they prefer to watch others play video games on YouTube!

Pretty much the same here, may watch the odd big game and World Cup but unless it involves the lads I've little interest in it

Depends on the match obviously, in the majority of cases I'd rather play FIFA.

This will have been pretty much the same throughout the last 40 year since computers became common place. The fact folk now prefer FIFA in the present age can be compared to the popularity of old home computers, donkey Kong, old consoles etc, etc. The worrying stat is 84% preferring FIFA to having a kick about.

It's not really surprising is it?

I’m not surprised tbf, I can’t remember the last time I sat and watched a full game on the tele unless it involved SAFC.

This. Huge variables involved in this question. What the game on TV matters massively.

I do this. I love watching SAFC live and on TV but don't watch a huge amount of other matches outside of international tournaments

Sort of understand it to be honest - sometimes fancy a game if watching a decent match or summit.

There's that much footy on TV it doesn't really matter who you're watching if it's not your team. Brighton, Southampton, Huddersfield, Fulham, Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth, Wolves, Palace, Cardiff. There's half the greatest league in the world I couldn't care less about watching.

Fifa have very much woven the progression of the team you're playing as into the game, so it's something you're engaged in. The more time you put in the further you progress. Unlike watching a dull game between dull teams for the sake of it being on.

Never got into playing FIFA or other computer games, even though I was into games as a child. In the olden days when you had to type commands into the computer to run a game, not just power up a console.

I'd rather have a punch in the bollocks than play FIFA at this point

  18. If Michael Owen is the co-commentator I'd rather have the games console dropped on my head than watch the match

  19. Surely it depends who they polled! Young un's it wouldn't surprise me one bit. Ask the oldies, it'd be bollocks.

I never watch footy unless it's us or England. Most people are the same.
