5th August Stats

Covid is pretty random, that’s why the modellers have been way off the mark at times, the reds and greens are +/- where numbers were last Thursday.

It wasn’t that long ago testing was 1.2 million per day, it was around 700,000 or so a number of days ago.

The figure we need to reduce and keep on reducing is the deaths, cases don’t really tell the full story.
Hospitalisations tell the full story.

When should we realistically see deaths coming k, down in relation to cases with the time lag?

What people have to remember is the deaths look bad and are a tragedy for all affected. But if the media circulated other death death totals pneumonia for example then within the context of life being finite and the UK having on average c. 1600+ daily deaths from all causes that we need to be pragmatic (not irreconcilable from being compassionate) and accept we will never see zero covid.

Yeah I realise that, just be nice for confirmation that the reduction in cases is genuine and not because people are deleting the app etc.

Jabs plodding along at about 200k a day.. not fantastic but still making a million more a week fullly vaccinated
Problem is first jabs have fallen off a cliff. Need a French style no vaccine no pub/restaurant etc rule. Initially introduce it as only requiring a first jab. E back to 300k a day by next week!
