What if...

Stoke offered a massive payrise.
Speakman says we can't match that, off you go to talk to them.
Speakman issues club statement.
KLD finds out and overrules, we will match that.
Stoke talks fail to come to any agreement.
We have a quandry, how do SAFC tidy this up without a backlash on Neil?

All hypothetical, he'll probably be announced as Stoke manager by the time I've finished typing this! Would you forgive/take him back if the above was anywhere near the truth?
He's gone mate.

He’s said his goodbyes to the players and staff. It’s a done deal.

Even if by some bizarre quirk of fate Stoke had a change of heart and went for another man Neil has burnt his bridges here.

As good as he’s been you can’t treat the club like that.

Do we know the saying goodbye thing as definite? Anyway, until it's officially announced none of us really know nowt. Can't be long now until something is put out from either side.

It's a shame we weren't playing stoke today at the Stadium of Light, as Alex Neil could have came out and it would have been like run around waiting to see which dugout he went in.

He has burnt his bridges

Considering how poor the clubs comms have been, I was surprised how quick they managed to issue a statement about him talking to Stoke, or that they bothered at all.

Wonder if that was an attempt to give him no way back?
It 100% was imo, plus, spitefully, perhaps strengthening Stokes bargaining position so they can lowball him.

Good for them, he can fuck off..

O'Neill without Robertson did not work for us.

Maybe Canning can make a case for the job while we are hunting down someone who is available.
He’s more experienced than your average assistant (4 years as manager at Hamilton) so certainly better than the proctor / Dodds alternative. It’s just whether him being part of AN’s team is a distraction

Nothing announced from Stoke, no word from the club about whether AN is still employed by SAFC and if not who’s taking the game today. What a strange situation. Can imagine it’s been a very long night for some people at the club.
This is a smokescreen to take the attention away from the fact my Boro ticket was bought from under me while they weren’t even on sale

Somebody still needs to bring this to the club’s attention after we appoint David O’Leary

It certainly made me forget about those missing tickets that’s for sure
