4th Best SAFC PL season

Midfield
Points wise we got 58 and 57 under Reid and then Bruce’s much championed top half finish was 47.

We’re now on 46 points with 6 games left. You’d like to think Regis can get us at least 2 more points to jump into 3rd.

Whether we make Europe or not, I’d love us to get a top 10 finish from here just to put Bruce back in his box a bit. He always bigged up his achievements here, but he had the best backing of any Sunderland manager ever and a last day 10th place was the best he could muster. Yes, RLB was backed better this year but the starting point was much much lower.

Anyway, as I bounced out of Wembley last May I never dreamed this season could go so well. Well done to all at SAFC.

47 points was a flukey 10th as well, honestly

I know there’s a bit of scepticism about us getting in one of the lesser competitions but for me we won’t get a better chance. Go for it. We aren’t signing players like Xhaka, Nordi, Brobbey, Sadiki who have all sampled champions league just to settle being in the top 10.

I do feel like the squad isn’t up to the extra games as it stands.

But a couple of years ago people wanted us not to get promoted and said we weren’t ready to go up, and should have another season in the championship to build a better side. We went from 6th to 16th. So you can’t always plan ahead and need to take an opportunity when it’s there.

If we go by our avg points this season so far per game.

Surely we can get another 6 at least?

I think we will get into the 50+ point range, I can see another win and 3 draws as a solid possibility.

But why not dream a little,

We could beat, Wolves and Forest, nothing stopping us getting something at villa and Everton and we have done well with the big teams At the Sol, so dont write us off for something against either Chelsea or Man U.

I think its time to dare to dream, players back and getting back to our best, lets go for it.
