Hope we see another plumb one not given.

The reviews aren't meant for punts like that. Would love to see them being cry baby cunts again.

You could make a case for dropping 4 of our top 7 (Root, Burns and stokes exempt) but the problem then lies with who you bring in.
People were clamouring for Cook to go and he was past his best but the problem was always going to be who replaced him. It’s the same for majority of our top order now.

Yes I agree. They simply don't play enough first-class (I refuse to say "red ball") cricket. In the past they'd go away and bat for their county - often against world-class bowlers too. The players aren't applying themselves as well as they should but I have some sympathy as they don't often get the chance.
I think I'm right in saying that Jason Roy's longest ever innings is 4 and a half hours. And then he is hoyed in to open against a top class attack.

Spot on assessment

Win or Lose, Joe Root must have the captancy taken from him. Feel sorry for the lad, but the way he hoyed up the white flag during the Aussies first innings was embarassing. He is trying his best, alas his batting is suffering and his tactical nouse is non existant. Who replaces him mind?.

Spot on. Think they've targetted the World Cup - make our ODI team as strong as possible on home soil and win it. As a result you've neglected the Test side of Cricket and batting for time, batting against top class bowlers and in varying difficult situations. That's the result.

If the Aussies hadn't declared they'd have got 520/530 on this pitch. We're struggling to get to 300.

The replacements are simply not there mate.

Stokes only real option. ?

Burns

Change of coaching and mindset of the whole team needs changing, they're all good players.
Players have to take responsibility. They are all top level players. Weak to blame the coach imo.

KP not everyone cup of tea but he played under Moore’s and Flower who he couldn’t stand yet still produced. Warne the same with Buchanan.

I don’t believe for one second Baylis is telling Roy and Bairstow to push at the ball constantly or Denly to keep taking eye off the short ball.

Players need to step up and other than Stokes and to lesser degree burns and root none of the batsman have.

I think you need someone who actually understands the mechanics of bowling. One of the biggest issues with Root is that he treats his attack like machines who don't tire or get stiff or injured. He dosen't know how to rotate the attack and if you look most of the points in the match where Australia have really gotten away has been against tired bowling from tired bowlers.

Think that's where you miss Jimmy firing on all cylinders
