Striker
Just to mix it up at bit for a few games to give the opposition something different to think about and create a different dynamic between midfield and up front.

As a starter for 10....

Patto
Hume, Ballard, O9 (cirkin /alese in when fit)
Huggins and Clarke (slightly dangerous defensively I know) as wingbacks
Ekwah, Neil, Pritchard (or Bellingham)
Burstow and Mayenda (Rusyn if fit)

Its a bit of a gamble but the current system is broken so why not try it.

If you are as good as Clarke and as important to the team you aren't going to want to play wing back although I do like 3 at the back systems. Could we play Clarke off of the 2 strikers wandering? Play Roberts/Auchiche and Clarke off of 1 striker
Taking all of Clarke's game away as a wing back...but would we be a better 'team' all round?🤔 also we have Clarke is hopeless defensively, look at his attempt against Boro 2nd half playing there.

I think I’d do this.

We don’t have the number six to do the 4-3-3 system I’d like to play. More open to trying O’Nein there than I usually am, but perhaps not at the moment.

We could go back to 4-2-3-1 with a double pivot defensive midfield two and more width from the full backs. But for now we need a bit more of a break.

So I’d do this.

But clearly: not playing Clarke as wing back. So for me, it should be more 3-4-3 with Clarke, Aouchiche and Rusyn/Mayenda as the three up top. I think that could be quite fluid - Auochiche could drift in to a 10 role and Clarke could break the lines. More solid base.

I’m in.

He played there with a lot of success last season mate. We shouldn't be scared to try it again because of how the Boro game went.

Think this move is possible, but doesn’t need Clarke at wing back.

Long-term: Pembele and Cirkin are decent wing backs. Huggins is an option. Hume. Clarke should obviously be one of the forward three.

Exactly this.

Just need to stick with 11 players and get them used to playing with each other rather than constant changing. Our best team / formation when fit is Patterson; Hume (RB), Ballard, 09, Huggins (LB); Roberts (RM), Neil, Ekwah, Clarke (LM); Bellingham; Rysyn. Our best tactic is pushing the fullbacks on to support the wide midfield players, having Ekwah sitting deep, and allowing Bellingham to drift. If a player is fit then keep playing them through the inevitable dips in form young / skilful players have. If a player is injured then replace like for like and keep the rest the same. Simples.

Clarke off mayenda with Hume as the other wingback to huggins could work. Wouldn't be surprised if we've tried it In training. It allows for a more adventurous midfield. We did experiment in pre season but can't see us changing things given mowbrays recent comments.

just play 433 with onien at cdm

can transition to 343 with onien at cb and the fullback wide

roberts and clarke as inverted forwards ssupporting the striker, can go wide or play with their attaacking full back

management is easy

youd be forgiven if you thought i worked in footbaall

We don't really play with a rigid formation anyway.

Loads get further forward than we have seen under previous managers.

Burstow is f***ing dreadful.

Clarke is not a wing back, prime example the loss at home to the smoggies, he played at wing back and got tortured 2nd half.

Clarke is not a wing back, so why sacrifice the good things he can do?

And Burstow isn't a striker...

It depends who's fit.
