33 years ago, one of the few enjoyable away games

.... under 'the genial geordie giant'.

A 4-2 win at Plymouth.
2 up thru Buchanan, but pegged back only for Armstrong and the Citrus Kid (with a bullet header) to win it for us.
Hundreds of Plymouth waiting in Park after game, so got led across pitch and through main stand to car park to get coach.

Bus left Mecca at midnight and were on Plymouth Hoe 7am in pissing down rain. Driver kicked us off and stayed in a greasy spoon til pubs opened. Happy simple days.

Known as TCE (The Central Element), they weren't exactly the brightest bunch, the Plymouth mob. Waiting for us at our end for over an hour after the game, some of them were convinced we were too scared to leave.

A huge Sunderland turnout that day, thanks to the lad who worked in the ticket office at Newcastle station selling loads of £10 return fares. The ticket inspectors on the train knew they were dodgy as hell but couldn't do a thing about it!

Was that the Hand-written ones that use to go around the Upper Deck back in the Day?

I'm sure the lad who used to knock them out was at Redby Jnrs and Monky House comp seniors. The 2nd part of his nickname referred to a part of the body?
