3 realistic signings

Good shout for a freebie

Also Lawrence Shankland is out of contract and worth a punt

Hibernians Ex Barnsley midfielder Stevie Mallan would be quality in your league and he’s what you’re crying out for, not sure if he’s realistic but I should think he is for the right money.

Is David Turnbull from Motherwell a realistic shout ? 19yr old 15 goals in 32 from Midfield  No doubt plenty of other clubs will be looking at him

Here’s me wondering who Clarke is? Surely not the Pompey centre half? What sort of numb nut would think he’d come here? There must be another Clarke I’ve missed out on somewhere in Lge1.? Who’d he play for? Ffs I can’t think etc etc etc. Mebbes I’m getting mixed up here? Not the first time.
If it is the Pompey centre half. He should be hanging on for Leicester when Maguire goes to Utd if he’s any sense. Sunderland next season:lol:.

Please tell me that it’s not the Pompey centre half this threads mentioned. Please. Someone.

If money talks then how come we spent double what the rest of the league spent combined and still finished 5th?
Because 2 of the 3 players we actually spent money on spent most of their time here injured, and the other was Jack Baldwin!

My choices of transfer:
Maddison (Pbiro)
Shankland (Ayr)
Cousins (QPR)

I believe 2 of them are available on frees

I think he could have been had we gone up. Seems to be getting heavily linked with Rangers in the Scottish press and getting glowing reviews from everyone. Being talked about as the most exciting Scottish youngster in a long time.

Before considering signings I think we need to think about who may be leaving and need replacing.

I’d suggest cattermole will go should someone fancy paying his wages (doubtful)

Mcgeady, surely one of the promoted sides will come in for him (wages again may be an issue but we may subsidise to get off the books?)

Oviedo - again if someone wants to meet his wage demands we will undoubtedly offload

Gooch and honey man - possibly time to sell and utilise the funds raised

Grigg - if it is to believed that he doesn’t want to be here, we may bite the bullet

Baldwin - seems to be surplus now

Flanagan - reports championship sides interested

We should raise a million or two (no idea how much they’re worth but it feels like 2 bob after Sunday) from that lot to invest but it doesn’t half leave some gaping holes to fill. Purposefully left the goalie off as we’d be fucked if we lost McLaughlin.

Clarke, Lowe, Dack and Waghorn are not remotely realistic, neither is selling Grigg.

If i can only have 3 I'll go down the spine;

Curtis Tilt (Blackpool) free
Ollie Norburn (Shrewsbury)
Jonson clarke Harris (Bristol Rovers)

I haven’t read the whole thread, but has someone seriously suggested Bradley Dack?

He's not a striker (I think he's played a little more advanced a lot this season). Admittedly I've only started keeping a closer eye on him since we came down but from what I understand he's played the vast majority of those games as an attacking centre mid or a number 10.

He's big, he's strong, athletic and mobile. He's technically sound, an alright age, a good price (free transfer and presumably relatively low wages) and, in my opinion, has potential for moving up the leagues. The downside, and I assume the reason other, bigger clubs, haven't taken a gamble on him are a supposed poor attitude (lots of clubs at a young age) but by all accounts he's grown up and settled down a lot now so that would hopefully no longer be an issue.

Cheers. That makes more sense.

His record is canny enough then to be fair.

Realistic signings won't do the job, its unrealistic signings that get you promoted, break the bank, try and attract Championship quality players to the club not other league 1 players and below. A club as big as Sunderland should be able to sell themselves to players willing to step down in order to be possibly playing Premier football in 3-5 years, that has to be the aim surely? same with any potential new manager. Player wise someone like Billy Sharp for instance

Can't see us selling Grigg. Championship won't want him and league one clubs can't afford him. I hope he comes good next season. If he's injured we shouldn't have signed him. If he's not injured I'd be very worried.
Spot on, why i said selling him is unrealistic

Saw him a few weeks ago, played well, canny player IMO
He is. We're not laughing cos he's shite, we're laughing cos he's completely unrealistic
