The real point is that we have to keep being realistic. England can only beat what's in front of them....and well done to them for that! However, they seriously let us down in the last Ashes series...it was more than just defeat, imho. You can't blame people for not going overboard until they can do it against the best...or at least show some courage and application and make it a contest. The jury is still out for me...I will buy you a beer and eat a slice of humble pie if we win. And I'll be very glad to do it.

I never said we would win the Ashes

There is no shame if we get beat by a better side, but we are better than most other test side.

I know you didn't. I was suggesting reasons why some people are a little reticent about gushing over England in the context of the last Ashes (and let's be clear, that is the series we always are geared towards) debacle.

Fair point, just think there is a difference between that and slating the team.

We have won 4 of our last 5 tests, people can belittle the opposition, but there aren't many teams out there to beat!

Aye, most of the public don't really register beyond the Ashes for test cricket.The Aussies are very good but still beatable by a good, in form team would be my opinion.
 
If I could wish for anything it's that Cook would fekkin stop saying 'erm' every other word when being interviewed!
