2nd Test: Grenada

Status
Not open for further replies.
May as well start early

Quick turnaround here as it starts on Tuesday and then the following test in Barbados is on Friday week

What would you go with?

Cook
Trott
Ballance
Bell
Root
Stokes
Ali
Buttler
Jordan
Wood
Anderson

For me

Ali has to play over Tredwell and I would rest at least one of the quicks given the back to back series

Broad misses out because he is a bit of a twat

Ali is not in the squad, I would maybe bring rashid in place of Jordan then Jordan will be raring to go in Barbados

If Ali is ready then ye he has to go in. I'd have Lyth for Trott though and I'd leave Wood out for the minute and keep Broad.

I would have played Lyth for the first test, but I don't think you should drop a player after a single match

The fast bowling is much of a muchness unfortunately. They all got through a chunk of work and given there are no breaks I would make a change (and also to blood someone in what is an ageing attack)

Agree with all that but if I was bringing Wood or Plunkett in for express pace I think it would be Jordan who misses out. As much as I don't like Broad and think he's shot to bits as a batsman he's bowled pretty well over the last year or so. I think Jordan's best skill is his fielding and you shouldn't be picked for that. No better bowler than Stokes and he's certainly not in the same league batting wise, bits and pieces player who shouldn't spend that long with the test squad.

Will be Ali for Tredwell with stokes back to 8
I don't think Stokes will be moved after his performance in the last test. If anything Ali's batting is going backwards but even if he comes in ahead of Stokes, Stokes will be in ahead of Buttler. Not a bad batting line up if he's at 8. And being picky Plunkett would bat above Broad. Oh and they won't drop Trott after one match, for me the argument was whether he or Lyth got the series.

Trott has never opened for warcs, the lions or England so why do they think he can now after coming back from stress related problems.

It's him or Ballance and you can't drop the latter currently.

@Keith S30S
Can you please change the title to Grenada as I am an incompetent tit

Thanks so much

He opened for England in Bangladesh and has also opened in County Cricket for Warwickshire

He's opened in almost 30 matches but I agree with you. However:
