Boom

Hospital admissions seemed to have levelled a bit over last 4 days, but they did that last week & were around the 1500 mark for 5 days then dropped a few hundred. So hopefully we see the same again & couple of drops next week

7 day rolling death average has seen a further increased in rate of reductions at 32.3%

And should break the 20m barrier in1st vaccinations tomorrow.

People in hospital is for 25th. England only shows a further 668 reduction on 26th, so should be about 14,000 tomorrow. At this rate might be under 10k next week

Big fall in reported deaths yesterday also. Pleasently surprised at another one today. Again no consolation to those affected.

Deaths will lag so should keep falling if cases and more importantly hospital numbers decrease
Vaccinations are clearly impacting on declining case rates now.
People not getting it and also not passing it on because they didn’t get it. Fingers crossed

Declining case rates hit a plateau which prevailing wisdom would have suggested would have remained as restrictions not tightened, If anything fatigue set in. But the decline in case rates accelerating again, would definitely say it’s the impact of vaccines on transmission, if we went back to pre-May testing style the numbers would be very low.

It’s the lockdown not the vaccinations yet
Has people’s behaviour changed though? Not only is the case rate going down but the positivity rate is too. Millions of people having the vaccine has to be contributing to a degree. It’s probably most significant in the hospital, it’s now possible many patients could be hospitalised and avoid getting it, which has seemed a Mammoth task for months ....

It has to be. We have now vaccinated circa 30% of the country, from the most vulnerable downwards. It's a great achievement. While simultaneously testing regularly 700k a day.

Hopefully now any spikes in cases will only have a mild impact on deaths and hospitalisations.

Then once we are all vaccinated little to no impact.

Can remember seeing a article that said 40% of cases are asymptomatic so in total just 56 people in total infected today. In our area. Surely you have to be really unlucky to catch this now. Also notice our cases per hundred thousand was quite a bit higher than national figure previously but we have been edging closer all week. A really good week. What a relieving trend but thoughts are with the those and their families of those who are part of these vile statistics
