I reckon we can't crack the top 4 . However it's only SAFC WBA and Boro battling for 5th and 6th. Every time one of those two drops points is worth celebrating.

Long may Norwich and Watford's troubles continue : great work from our current overlords to have us ahead of any parachute teams.

We have a nice run of fixtures now that could lock us in to the top six and make us look an even better proposition for any January arrivals and also play ourselves into form ahead of Aragorn v Sauron in the Cup

No such thing as a nice run of fixtures tbh. Plymouth millwall and Huddersfield we got 1 point

Compared to last season are we better off? Not just after 21 games but like for like fixtures?

Erm... I think you'll find Preston, Blackburn, Cardiff, Hull, Watford and Norwich are all within touching distance / a couple of those teams have games in hand too. So to say it's out of 3 teams with 25 games to go is completely absurd. Do Sunderland have the capabilities of remaining in the top 6? Absolutely. With the right manager should you be confident? 100%. But you can never write off teams in this league more than any.

We have some tough away games to come though ...Leeds, Ipswich, Boro, WBA, Southampton, Norwich, cardiff, Hull and Watford.......none of these will be gimmees

The games are going to be relentless over Xmas.

23rd 26th 29th 1st

Tough times ahead regardless of who play.

Been saying it since Southampton, we look a lot better. We have players who were missing last season, playing out their skin in the form of Ballard and Huggins. Neil and Clarke are even better than they were.

The issue was mainly we needed a certain type of central midfielder and a certain striker, to suit the squad and manager, now Mowbray has moved on, there's less need for the latter because we are utilising players better. Won't be long before a striker scores I feel.

If we finish 6th , I would see that as an improvement on last year . There is no doubt that the opposition level has improved with the three demoted premiership clubs and the achievements of Ipswich adding to an already decent league .

I thought Watford had been in good form since we played them?

Always a team that arrives late, QPR doing well.

Lots of pundits saying the top four is already decided. Even allowing for the fact that three of those sides were in the premier league last season I still think that’s a big call to make with more than half a season to go.

That's a lot of big teams in the top 6 mind.

I think we're ahead of where I expected - with all the new kids, I thought it would be a slower start and a better run after January. Still, no realistic chance of top 2 by the looks of it. So being in top form with a non-knackered team as the playoffs start would be the plan.

Can't say I mind too much if we don't go up this year as I don't think we have a foundation to build on right now.

We're 9 points better off from the corresponding fixtures I think - obviously replacing the promoted/relegated clubs with Leicester, Ipswich, Plymouth etc.

Results have been pretty similar but we've beaten Blackburn away, West Brom, Norwich and Leeds (Sheff United) at home which we lost last season.

Obviously lost to Preston, Boro, Huddersfield and Ipswich (Blackpool) etc which were wins or draws last season but we're better off overall.

Problem is if we don't go up this year we will almost certainly lose Clarke in the summer (if not in January). T'hat will mean we'll have lost Amad and Clarke from the team that was playing such great football last year.
