2021 Cycling Thread

You'd probably be ok in most of Holland to be fair. Wouldn't do it here.

I just don’t think it’s worth the risk. It might not look good but it’s a lot more fashionable than being in a coma because you came off.

Didn’t seem to bother the bloke in a hi-viz playing new monkey from a speaker in his bag going under the A19 at South Hylton like.

Lids aren't really needed if the Infrastructure is in place.....
Can’t say I’ve ever ridden over there. Riding without a helmet is just asking for trouble.

Less than 5% wear lids.....

embarrassed the bairn no end tonight, and slightly startled a lass riding thru north shields quay... first time ive seen a canyon grail in real life, and had to jump out in front of the lass riding it and ask her all about it... all the reviews of the bike always seem to have a question mark, largely around the bars (although some seem to say their frames are dog shit too)...

in real life it actually looks pretty neat, not sure the two dimension pictures help it much... from someone who owns one and rides one regular it seems the canyon's are a pretty amazing bike - perhaps its time to stop dithering and have the balls to order a fairly expensive bike (by my standards) from Germany without riding it first...

Just get a Pinerello Grivel.

Think that bars/cockpit just look awful.
In real life, it looked quite cool I thought, much better than photos… and the rider I was chatting to was really positive about what it was like to ride with them.

just it seems most online reviews I read/watch can’t get ‘over them’ and will be positive about the bikes, but with a ‘but’.
My views on Canyon are well documented but that aside, integrated stem/handlebars are a no-no as far as I'm concerned.
I understand why some people would be unimpressed with the integrated setup, but then I’ve never tinkered beyond the out of the box configuration with all the bikes I’ve owned.

you’re always quick to put down canyons, which i struggle to put into context when toying with the idea of buying one myself.

the small number of people I’ve actually spoken to who ride canyons are all really positive - but I’m aware of an ocean of online commentators who beg to differ.

bit of a head fuck when want to spend flipping wads of cash.

it does, but i'm more shocked at someone stopping a lass to look at a bike

just buy what you want and don't give a toss what people think.

Very quick google suggests it’s over my budget.

 ha thanks…

ive ridden a specialised tricross for 10 years without any issues (expect being run down by a little old lady) & was put onto it by the 2011 version of this thread which was pretty unanimous on spesh & the cyclocross bike - for better or worse i value what some of the fuckers round here say.

Narrow it down to two or three and go for the one with the least lead time :)
The adverts during the TOB on ITV are grim as fuck.

My cremation plan is sorted and the house is signed over to the donkey sanctuary.

Just got back from watching TOB pass through the town a few min walk from me house.
Really enjoying watching today's stage on the telly cos I know every inch of these roads. They are on the outbound leg of J2/1 at the moment - scene of many of my dismal failures 😂

Strange question for all you cyclists out there. Have you got calf muscles? Every cyclist I've ever seen has defined calf muscles except me. Why's that?
Having said that i went to the gym 4/5 times a week for nearly two years and never put an ounce of muscle on there either.:p:oops::D.

What a morning...about 20 miles in and a puncture ( rear wheel) took wheel off and while getting tube and lever out of pocket laid the wheel against lamppost, gust of wind blew wheel over and landed cassette/hub side down and whole hub somehow ended up in bits.

Managed to blag a lift home 👍
