20 years ago today, best ever at S. O. L.???

The game against Chelsea, was something else.
I'd been at Stamford Bridge, to see us getting humped 4-0, and expected a tough season.
Luckily we quickly found our feet and beat the Mugs away in the rain, and our season just took off.

I got to my seat for the Chelsea game at the SOL, as Chelsea were re-starting the game, after Quinny had scored in the first minute.
We then totally dismantled them, in an amazing first half of total football.
SKP scored a belting goal too, and such was our utter dominance, Desailly was taken apart by our attackers, and was subbed for the 2nd half.
One of the great games at the SOL., and a privilege to be there to see it.
This is what makes it a classic for me. Having been beaten and written off by Chelsea at the start of the season, that revenge was so so sweet and SKP's goal one of my all time favourites.

Agreed mate 👍

Didn’t the game get delayed an hour ? a remember everyone getting load more beers in brogans it was the time when the town was rammed before games, the atmosphere was class in the sol and just knew we would beat them those were the days !
Season after. Le saux sent off, maybe Kilbane too??
Except it was played at 3pm on a Saturday, but yeah.
Thought it was!
The noise and atmosphere, when SKP equalised against the Mags, was incredible.
Sheff Utd was special too.
The mist that night was eerie.

That was the following season 2000/2001 the kick off was delayed from 3pm to 4pm because of a power failure before the game. As you said, everyone had an extra hour in the pub!

We won 1-0, SKP.

The 7-0 win against Oxford does it for me. Obviously the opposition were crap but the atmosphere on that Tuesday night game was amazing as a 14-15 year old. Those faw seasons were special times and it doesn't look like we will see times like that anytime soon.

Last game my father attended.
I swear the air was 'crackling' with the noise that night. It did the same when we played the Mags (2-2) for the first time at the SoL.

Thought that was 1-1 (Carteron)???

Might not be the best match overall but certainly the best 45mins of football we have seen as SAFC fans, second half was pretty ordinary (I'm being a bit picky I know!)

Best half of football I’ve seen live. Chelsea were a top side had World Cup winners and legends in the team and we blew them away in 45 mins.
