Well played, comfortable win.

Roy and Hales are world class at ODI cricket. Strong characters who need to be considered over the longer format. We couldn't play both but Hales should have definitely been in the Ashes squad.

The selectors picked Gary f***ing Ballance!

Well played England. It doesn't matter how long - we won. The Aussies hate it - look at them. They are great when on top but they struggle like hell when on the back foot. That is how we should have took them on in the Test series. Wood and Rashid in the Test team. I know Rashid is expensive but he gets wickets.

Take it to the next one now.

This is not a dig at Roy, he’s clearly world class in limited overs, but no way is he cut out for test cricket

Crane ahead of Rashy for the Test side FFS  Love the bloke me

Still England's loss is definitely Yorkshire's gain. Not every county can boast a genuine wicket taking leggie for most of the season.
Aye this.

I really, really don’t understand the love in for Crane among the England selectors. Averaging over 40 apiece in the county game and is still very clearly learning his trade. I don’t particularly rate Rashid either but he’s miles above Crane’s level at this moment in time.

Who does Stokes replace in this team when he’s available? Obvious answer is Woakes I guess but it doesn’t leave us with an obvious new ball bowler with Wood.

On beating Alex Hales' record ODI score for England: "He (Hales) wasn't too happy by the sounds of things. The first thing the boys said was about him being pretty disappointed.

Selfish as well as a f***ing coward then...

Having never been tried in test cricket, how can you say that with any confidence?

Butler had a superb start in test cricket before NZ found a weak point and we quickly gave up on him.

He's similar to David Warner who started out as a T20 specialist.

I just don’t see that he has the technique or patience to play in the top 3, even today most of his runs came from lofted shots and he got away with several mistimed ones. Although Warner is still incredibly aggressive for a test opener he’s still altered his game a lot in tests. Hales tried to completely reign himself in when he was playing tests and I think Roy would end up doing similar, would obviously love it if he gets a chance and proves me wrong though

Was just coming on here to ask why he'd never been considered for a test match squad. Maybe a solution 3. Aggressive and doesn't seem shit scared of the short stuff. Although don' get a great deal at odi level. He could be another Vince but he has shown something consistently at a higher level. Vince has not

Malan was seen as a slogger before this year's Ashes. You cant surmise from his ODI knocks that he'd play the same in test cricket.

Mental toughness is all important in international cricket and Roy seems to have it.

Drop Vince, Malan at 3 and Roy or Hales at five. Surely worth a go...
