19 Managers in 21 years.

Since Peter Reid left the club in October 2002 we have had 19 permanent managers in 21 years.

Do we really want to make that stat a little bit worse at this point in time, has Tony Mowbray done so badly that some fans are totally justified in calling for his head.

I think not, he's done enough to deserve more time.
Let's see if you're still saying this at 5pm on January 1st 2024. I suspect not

This. Just two weeks ago we’d comfortably beaten Birmingham at home, we’re sat in 6th place in the league and any talk of sacking Mowbray would have been laughable.

If we don’t go up this season there’s a good chance that whoever the head coach is will have to start without a fair few of the current squad.
That's cherry picking one particular day, the recent record doesn't look good at all.

He has 5 defeats in his last 8 and 13 points in his last 11 games. That's unacceptable really. He needs results and fast.

You need two question marks in the second sentence, but other than that I largely agree.

It’s true though. I can’t recall a swathe of Mowbray must go threads after the Birmingham game.

Of course he needs results, if for example we lose at Millwall and then West Brom and Leeds turn us over at home I’d imagine he’d know the pressure on the owner to act would be massive.

Given Millwall’s poor home form and - last Wednesday apart- our improved home record, things could look a lot more promising after the next three games.

How many of the 19 chucked it ?
Snakey
Fat Sam
Moyes
Keane technically I think too and Sbragia decided to step down, so did Advocaat. The rest all sacked as far as I can remember.

McCarthy, Bruce, O’Neill, Poyet, Grayson, Coleman, Ross, Parkinson, Johnson.

This narrative that the supporters are somehow impatient or at fault is a strange one.

Mowbray deserves exactly what his team selections, lack of tactical awareness and inability to change a game gets him.
Agreed. When we won a few games people were saying we won despite Mowbray’s set up or subs.

We have a good set of players, good team spirit but no tactics to speak of and don’t set up to counter the opposition. We just put a team out. Then there are the subs, most match threads have been asking why. I’ve seen him take Ekwah off against physical midfields and out lighter weight players on, only for us to then lose the midfield battle. Baffling.

I remember in some of the positive threads I was saying it was great but this team had a string of defeats in it and I don’t think anyone disagreed.

We’ve lost a few but no more than three in a row. Which isn’t great but the two home games before Huddersfield we scored 3 and ended up winning comfortably. Think we need a bit of context to be fair even though yes the last 8 games overall hasn’t been good enough for where we’re looking to get.

What an absolute mess.

We deserve better. if the clubs hierarchy was as good as our fans we would have won the Champions League by now.

This constant managerial merry go round makes us look inept. Unprofessional even.

he clearly has no tactics to overcome what opponents know is an easy way to beat us. Sit in and you’re almost guaranteed 3 points against Sunderland.
Sadly with the players the new manager has at his disposal don't expect to see rivetting all out attacking football or a radical change of tactics.

Thankfully, the club no longer hangs its hat on whoever is the head coach at the time so the revolving door should have far less negative consequences.
Aye, the last few years of revolving doors has been magic

Moyles, Colehouse, Grayson, Ross, Johnson, Neil are all particular highlights

When I said no longer, that suggests from a certain point when something changed.

That something I was referring to was KLD taking over so the majority of names you have used to counter my point do the opposite, they are the point I am making.

Have Johnson, Neil and Mowbray not all seen the club move forward in their time here? The answer is yes.

So the last 21 years has suddenly improved in the last 2?

Sorry I didn’t notice the uptick - and by your argument it’s nowt to do with J, N, M anyway (but the reverse isn’t true, the regression was all to do with the managers 😂)

I bet you’re a kernt of a colleague, take credit for anything good, deny any involvement for owt going wrang

The last two and half seasons haven't been an improvement? We haven't gone forward as opposed to going backwards through reliance on short term employees?

If you didn't notice the difference that's fine, I'm not sure what to say other than you must really have enjoyed league 1 and the relegations.

I'm not sure where I have implied credit or denied involvement so that's an interesting take,

I'm guessing you're a perfectly pleasant colleague, capable of understanding simple comments and not entirely misunderstanding them, never expressing very muddled opinions and then calling people names.
