19 Managers in 21 years.

Since Peter Reid left the club in October 2002 we have had 19 permanent managers in 21 years.

Do we really want to make that stat a little bit worse at this point in time, has Tony Mowbray done so badly that some fans are totally justified in calling for his head.

I think not, he's done enough to deserve more time.
yes

Point being we did without Stewart, Simms and Evans from January.

Batth was a choice. They signed two new centre halfs but Mowbray persists with ONien. Agree on Amad, but none of the signings have come anywhere near him. Jobe has been good in spells but is 18 years old and is expected to be inconsistent.

Totally agree on Evans, he’s crucial in how we play.
Evans is the biggest miss of them all when our full backs go bombing forward we have no one to help out the centre backs, plus you can’t underestimate how crucial he was to our passing game, Ekwah, Neil & Jobe give the ball away far to often.
Scary how fast our fans start sharpening the knives. Deserves our support imo.
He does but needs to get back producing the performances we saw against Southampton, Sheff Wed and Leicester

We do need a bit stability

Moves Neil and big Sam weren't sacked. The rest were poor enough to warrant sacking. Can't keep the wrong man just for sake of continuity, if it's nit working things must change. That said I don't see our owners binning Mowbray just yet.

I dont believe in sacking a manager every season but that doesn'tmean I would not do it. The problem is the selection of the Manager/Coach/busdriver/gateman and what else he does. I am sure these directors know what to do aboput getting a manager. I would not take too muh notice of these agents. I would look to someone to advise us. WHen we got Bob Stokoe it was Jackie MIlburn who got him for us. I am not aware of who, if anyone, advsied the board when Bob resigned but I dont think they asked for advice from anyone. By the way I would never have approached Wilkinson when Murray did. I saw the list of potential candidates. Bob Paisley was number 1 - absolutely stupid to even have him on the list. Although the narrative beside his name said it was very unlikely that he would come. I cannot remember the full list but Adamson was the the first one on the list who could be approached. Brian Clough was way down the list. Graham Taylor, who was at Lincoln City, was the next one you could possibly approach. He was described as a very highly regarded young manager. They got the appointment wrong - a sign of things to come.

Very interesting comment this, thank you.

This. Just two weeks ago we’d comfortably beaten Birmingham at home, we’re sat in 6th place in the league and any talk of sacking Mowbray would have been laughable.
To me, this is a next season team. This year we’ll be ok and nowt else.

If we don’t go up this season there’s a good chance that whoever the head coach is will have to start without a fair few of the current squad.

After that shite last night I'm past caring who the manager is. I like Tony but don't mind if he stays or goes.

Was thinking about this earlier. We’ve gone through far too many managers even though some of the recent ones left of their own accord like Allardyce, Moyes and Neil.

It'd be a terrible one imo.
Exhibit A: Bradley Dack.

When precisely do our full backs go “bombing forward”?

This narrative that the supporters are somehow impatient or at fault is a strange one.

Mowbray deserves exactly what his team selections, lack of tactical awareness and inability to change a game gets him.

And look at all the success we have had, Champions League wins, Premier league titles, it’s a great idea to keep sacking the manager!

Ya geet daft knackers ( not you @HitchBerg )

The structure of the club lends itself to more frequent changes.

We haven’t got a traditional Manager that dictates all policy across all departments. We have a Head Coach that works on the grass and in the dugout and is not the major influence in any other department within the club.

Replacing a Head Coach isn’t starting from scratch, it’s about recruiting a new coach that fits the philosophy.

The club will (if ran correctly) have a dossier on possible replacements across the footballing world that will mesh with the club, squad and future plans while providing additionality.

We shall see.
